Never stop singing.

Life was never sweet for Simon. He lived in suburban New York, dodging high school bullies and strumming his guitar. Things were about to get much worse.

Simon is drawn into the land of Algavar, where High Priestess Teretha has imprisoned their god in amber. He falls into a holy war led by Ilyana, a renegade priestess who claims to be the Messiah. Simon agrees to accompany Ilyana on a quest to kill Teretha, and he sinks hip deep into the violence and despair that permeate Algavar.

Will Simon become the hero Ilyana believes he is, or will he lose his soul in a bloody world so different from his own?

Simon is definitely a character readers will want to root for throughout this tale. The tale has a twist reminiscent of Rosenberg's 'Guardians of the Flame' series. CA Sanders definitely tells a great story that is well balanced between action and intrigue. Definitely glad it's in my Nook library as I will most certainly be rereading it. While Fantasy is not my usual genre, “Song of Simon” was highly recommended to me and now I’m highly recommending it to you. This book changed my preconceptions of Fantasy novels. This is a mostly dark story with a great deal of bloodshed, lots of swordplay, and truly evil characters; however, it does have light-hearted scenes and even some that toyed with my emotions. There are enough unexpected events in the plot that kept me wondering “what next?” but never guessing correctly. If you’re looking for something to read, that you can’t put down, pick up a copy of “Song of Simon”.

C A Sanders takes you on an exciting adventure. Simon, a teenage boy, is taken from our world and transferred to an alternate world where a religious war is in full swing. Simon is taught to use a sword and given a quest to kill the Queen of Love and Beauty. HIs adventures lead him into taking perilous paths. Along the way, Simon learns about this new world, and the war he is now involved in. With a God helping him, through different mystical creatures, Simon still has a daunting task ahead of him. He must somehow free The Stag from imprisonment. "When we're on the road, I need to know that I can turn my back to you and you'll guard it and not falter." "You will see, Simon Kale. You will do what needs to be done, because that is your nature. you have the hero's mark on you - you were born to serve, and to serve is to suffer."
