He captured her innocence with his savage desire, she conquered his heart with her song

Say naught. Else you shall be next.

These are the words that leave a six-year-old Highland lass without a voice, and without memory of that terrible day her family's caravan was overtaken and her parents were slain.

Now, thirteen years later, fresh from the nunnery where she was taken after the attack, Highland Lady, Morgana Cambel, harbors only one wish: To have one night of ecstasy with the man of her dreamsher worldly, beautiful cousin's sometime loverRobert MacVie. So, when she is offered such a chancea secret switchshe determines to take it.

Highland Laird, Robert MacVie, desperately plots to ensnare his heiress lover into marriage in order to gain her dowry and pay his King the debt his late father owed, thus saving his clan from division and ruin. But a last minute switch changes the course of his lifeand his heartforever.

When their passionate interlude is discovered by her unctuous, devious uncle, nothing will do but that Robert wed the impoverished Morgana instead.

At first, they both resist. He, for the sake of his clan. She, for the sake of her unrequited love. But they quickly discover that resistance is futile. And a boon by the King soon lessens Roberts debt. Now, as their desire for each other grows, as Morganas voice begins to return only in song, as their hearts bond, a legacy of jealousy and greed entraps Morgana in a furious death plotand only her warrior-knight husband can save her!

RT Book Reviews - Bridget Keown
"Saxons romance blends a multilayered historical epic with a dash of the mystical to create a story that is complex and lush with detail. Fans will love the intrigue and danger and enjoy the bonus material at the books end that extends the world and its cast."
Affaire de Coeur - Lauren Calder
"Ms. Saxon strategically sets a hot romance, snags the reader into a web of intrigue, and keeps the readers attention to the very end."
Night Owl Reviews - Debra Taylor
"K.E. Saxon left not one dull moment in this book. Her writing style was excellent, with several exciting subplots intricately woven throughout the story."
Romantic Historical Reviews - Susan Frances
"A gripping raconteur, K.E. Saxon has crafted a story about true love amidst tragedy, betrayal, treachery, and personal struggles set in Medieval Scotland...Song of the Highlands is a story that sweeps the reader away, escaping into another world, sinking them into a passionate love affair that holds true to the expectations of a Medieval Scottish romance."
Queen of the Night Reviews - Maria D.
"Greed, treachery and political drama take center stage in K.E. Saxons Song of the Highland, the fourth book in her Medieval Highlander series. Colorful and well-developed characters, good dialogue and plenty of emotional angst kept me turning the pages to discover what would happen next. A fairly rapid pace and plenty of physical action makes this a very lively tale."

Meet the Author

K.E. Saxon is a third-generation Texan and has been a lover of romance fiction since her first (sneaked) read of her older sister's copy of The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. She has two cats, a 26-year-old cockatiel, and a funny, supportive husband. When she isn't in her writer's cave writing, you can find her puttering in her organic vegetable garden or in her kitchen trying out a new recipe. An animal (and bug) lover since before she could speak, she made pets of all kinds of critters when she was a kid growing up. Her mother even swears that she made a pet of a cockroach one time (but K.E. doesn't believe her). She likes to write humorous, sexy romances.

Else you shall be next.”  These are the words that leave a six-year-old Highland lass without a voice, and without memory of that terrible day her family's caravan was overtaken and her parents were slain.  Now, thirteen years later, fresh from the nunnery where she was taken after the attack, Highland Lady, Morgana Cambel, harbors only one wish: To have one night of ecstasy with the man of her dreams—her worldly, beautiful cousin's sometime lover—Robert MacVie. So, when she is offered such a chance—a secret switch—she determines to take it.  Highland Laird, Robert MacVie, desperately plots to ensnare his heiress lover into marriage in order to gain her dowry and pay his King the debt his late father owed, thus saving his clan from division and ruin. But a last minute switch changes the course of his life—and his heart—forever.  When their passionate interlude is discovered by her unctuous, devious uncle, nothing will do but that Robert wed the impoverished Morgana instead.  At first, they both resist. He, for the sake of his clan. She, for the sake of her unrequited love. But they quickly discover that resistance is futile. And a boon by the King soon lessens Robert’s debt. Now, as their desire for each other grows, as Morgana’s voice begins to return only in song, as their hearts bond, a legacy of jealousy and greed entraps Morgana in a furious death plot—and only her warrior-knight husband can save her! My Thoughts As someone who at one point read nothing but historical novels have developed a lifelong love of stories featuring the Scottish Highlands and the men and women whose passion for life is unsurpassed by any other characters. There is nothing as satisfying as immersing oneself in a well spun story which is exactly what happened while reading about the tumultuous love affair between Morgana and Robert. This is a lush, long read that has so many things going on you will not want to take a break but when you do it is easy to pick up where you left off. What I especially enjoyed is the way that all the plots in the book weave together to create a beautiful finale that makes up for all the times when it seemed that there would never be a truly happy ending for anyone. Having read many others thoughts on this particular book have to agree with the majority that not only does the author portray this time period quite well but her characters are easy to relate to as well as fascinating to learn about, also the more mundane aspects of life during the 13th century are interestingly described which adds to the realism of the story as well. I am thankful that we were given a bonus read at the end that also helped to give closure to a secondary plot. This is a well researched, well thought out, extravagant medieval historical romance with tons of action-romantic suspense and lusty scenes hot enough to melt the your ereader! ***Small Spoiler*** 4.75 stars I loved this story! Robert was a character that we met in K.E.'s previous highland series and I was immediately curious about him. This story has a lot of action, steam, suspense some heart-break, and more.  I loved Morgana. Even though she was mute, I still connected with her through the writing. She experiences a tragedy in her childhood which causes her to lose her voice. I enjoyed watching her grow as a woman and seeing the struggles that she had to overcome and decisions that she made. Even though Robert was tricked, he still wanted Morgana, but felt that he couldn't have her. His duty he felt to his people to provide for them was honorable.  They both come with a ton of baggage, but when they are together, it's HOT!  The secondary characters provided some entertainment as well, especially Vika and Grimr. And...I can't forget Guy. :D The only thing that didn't make it a 5 star were the abductions. While I understood the necessity of it, I felt it was a little overdone. The scenes were well written though. I am anxiously awaiting more from K.E.!
