Overview

After a media-frenzied divorce, country singer Sunny Sundance is ordered by her doctor to rest. During her sabbatical, she even considers retiring at the height of an illustrious career. When her attorney calls about a journal and tintype photo dating back to the 1800s he received from a man who claims the artifacts belonged to Sunny's ancestors, she is intrigued, but not convinced. Reading the journal, however, removes any doubt about its authenticity. Since her career is on hold, she drives incognito to the Village of Oak Creek, a small community located near the beautiful city of Sedona, with the intent of buying back her family's homestead. Soon she will begin an emotional trek into an unbelievable family legacy.

For Jason Grant, purchasing the land he once trespassed and played on as a child is a dream come true. He considers the property with its magnificent views of red monoliths to be the most beautiful place on earth. When famous singer Sunny Sundance shows up offering to buy his land at whatever price, he refuses. But when she threatens to force him off of it, he is outraged. Having recently gone through a turbulent marriage and divorce, he is in no mood to deal with a woman he considers to be pampered and selfish. Only later, after a journey of discovery into the past with Sunny, does he realize how wrong assumptions can be

About the Author

My perfect day: Laptop; WiFi availability; Java Mocha; characters demanding their stories be told; a plot that comes together; and hours to live in an alternate reality.

Seriously, I have always loved reading, and now I love writing. As a preteen, I devoured Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Mysteries. When I reached my teen years, the romance genre became my favorite and that has never changed. A few years ago, I decided to try my hand at writing and I've been doing so with a passion ever since. After writing a fantasy series, my current focus is western romance, both contemporary and historical. Because I hate saying goodbye to characters who have lived with me for months, I usually create a series so they can be revisited from book to book.

Reviewed by Janelle Fila for Readers' Favorite Song of the Red Rocks (Red Rocks Trilogy Book 2) by Verna Clay is a contemporary romance about two people who want the same thing. Jason purchased the most beautiful land in the gorgeous Sedona area, land he played on as a child. When recently on sabbatical, country western singer Sunny Sundance comes into the Village of Oak Creek. She offers any price to buy the land. Sunny recently stumbled across a journal that she believes belongs to her ancestors. Discovering her family heritage is an important journey for her, therapeutic and rejuvenating after a humiliating and very public divorce. Sunny believes purchasing the land that once belonged to her family will help heal her wounds. But Jason refuses to sell because the land speaks to him as well. He doesn't want to give up the one beautiful thing in his life to the spoiled woman with the silver spoon in her mouth. But soon Jason realizes that the most beautiful thing in front of him might not be the land at all... Song of the Red Rocks by Verna Clay is a wonderful story about how two people can want the same thing for similar and very different reasons. It takes the reader on a journey and asks if those two people can learn to put aside their preconceived notions and work together, talk, communicate, and fall in love. It is a well written story with a great story, interesting characters, and fun and engaging scenes. A great read for romance fans!
