Reviewed by Natasha Jackson for Readers' Favorite Sophie’s back and this time she has found her ‘thunder and lightning bolt man’ also known as the man of her dreams. Sophie knows that this is the man she wants to marry yet, as the prologue hinted at some type of betrayal, all we can do is sit back and hope that her dream man Steve isn’t part of the betrayal. After that betrayal, the story opens with Sophie on a ferry headed to the German North Sea to hide from her problems. Nicky Wells has stepped up her game in Sophie’s Run, adding a mysterious Steve to the mix. Dan is back, in a more platonic role, but I can’t quite shake the feeling that he’s just biding his time for the right moment to pounce. Even though this story is about Sophie, Nicky Wells fills every page with delightful characters with lots of color. Not one dull moment exists in Sophie’s Run as we follow her singing in a choir and running off to a small town and starting a new life there. There’s Dan who seems to have matured and mellowed out this time around, but he is still as cheeky as ever! The excitement of this story cannot be underestimated since it is filled with everything that makes up a good romance: love, sex, misunderstandings, a fire, and a meddling ex-fiancé. With dear old Steve added to the mix and no real clue about who Sophie will choose, I just want to dial her up and tell her to make a choice already!

So, Sophie and Dan are growing up. But, they have found themselves firmly in the friend zone with each other, and Sophie believes she’s found her dream guy. Then things in Rachel’s life go crazy, which leads to a HUGE upset between all of them. Let me start by saying that I completely fell in love with Dan in this book. I liked Dan in the first book, but let’s face it; he definitely wasn’t marriage material. This book – different story!! (Although he does screw up big one time – but I don’t think that would have happened if he would have been with Sophie.) And Sophie?? Oh, I was so proud of the way Sophie had grown between the first and second books. She still has growing to do (don’t we all???), but there were no major character flaws present this go around. At the beginning of the story you get to ride along as Dan and Sophie get some real bonding time as friends. During this time, I found Dan absolutely hilarious! I spent the first half of the book laughing and swooning over him. There were times I was completely giddy! Then enters Steve, Sophie’s “dream guy”. I couldn’t help but like Steve. However, I just never felt that amazing chemistry between Sophie & Steve that I knew existed between Sophie & Dan. At times, things between Sophie & Steve just seemed awkward. It’s not long after Sophie & Steve find their groove that things all turn haywire, though. Sophie gets a HUGE SHOCK, and find herself running for the hills. The ending was happy for Sophie, so I couldn’t help but be happy for her. However, I was gritting my teeth. It wasn’t the ending I wanted, but now I have so much hope that I’ll get that ending in Sophie’s Encore. I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on this final book!! I must also say that I would absolutely LOVE to get Rachel’s story. I’m hoping that Nicky plans on writing it!! The little taste you get of Rachel’s story in this book is enough to leave you BEGGING for more!! So, a STRONG 4 stars!!!! I can’t wait to get more of Sophie and Dan!!!! *I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

My review: Let me start saying, that Sophie’s Run was a big positive surprise for me! I haven’t read any of Nicky Well’s books yet, but boy, was I glad, I decided to go for it! I loved it! Sophie’s run is funny, sweet and interesting to read. Never a dull moment because the plot takes you to different places and people. Plot: I am not going to give you any spoilers here, but it was a fantastic journey to read about Sophie, Dan, Rachel and Steve! As I said, there was never a dull moment in Sophie’s Run and as the title suggests, Sophie is running away. Already in Prologue you get the understanding, that something dramatic has happened to Sophie and the whole plot is building up to that moment, so there is a lot of anticipation. What I loved about the story? There is not much to NOT like! Firstly, the settings kept my attention all the way through reading. You visit and see different surroundings where Sophie is traveling to and I loved the descriptions of the places and people. It was written in a way, that I, as a reader, wanted to be there, I even felt that I was there together with Sophie taking the same journey she was taking and going through the events together with her. Secondly, I liked how the author developed the plot and I have to admit, that in usual romances the developments can be pretty predictable, but in Sophie’s Run I was surprised more than once. Thirdly, the dynamics between the characters and between the relationships was awesome! Characters: I think Sophie is one of my favorite female characters from contemporary romances. She is unspoiled and genuinely a good and happy person. (Please don’t mix this with the word naïve). She was a person whom I could relate to and she was easy to love which does not meant that I understood her thoughts and actions all the time. That also made her interesting for me as a reader. I loved Dan and I was so happy to see him matured and more grown up. It seemed that Dan was growing a lot as a man and as a person in Sophie’s Run. My secret wish here is that Dan and Sophie will end up together, they would be so suitable to each other. I can’t wait to read, what Nicky Wells will do to their friendship and love in the third book! Generally: Sophie’s Run is the second book in the series and I highly recommend reading the first one – Sophie’s Turn - before you pick up Sophie’s Run. It is an entertaining contemporary romance where the story grabs you from the very beginning and carries you through emotional and fascinating story until the last page. And you will be wanting more of Sophie and her friends!

Welcome back to Sophie's world! When we last saw twenty-eight year old Sophie Penhalligan in Sophie's Turn, she had two men propose to her, and she had to make a decision of which guy would win her heart. Sophie accepted the proposal of hunky rock star Dan Hunter, but the engagement was short lived. Now in Sophie's Run, the second book of the Rock Star Romance Trilogy, Sophie is once again on a madcap journey of self-discovery to find out what she really wants out of life and to find her real Mr. Right. Just when I thought author Nicky Wells couldn't top Sophie's adventures of finding love in the first book of the trilogy, she turns around and rocks our world with another sassy tale. Written in the first person narrative, Sophie's story picks up where it left off in the Sophie's Turn, with Sophie once again taking the reader on another crazy adventure to find her true love. The reader gets a chance to catch up with Sophie, Dan and best friend Rachel. Plus there is a sexy new love interest named Steve who causes a thunder and lightning moment when Sophie meets him. There are some issues and obstacles that Sophie has to overcome: a fire destroys her flat on her birthday; her pesky ex-rock star fiance keeps getting in the way of her new romance; missed opportunities to hook up with Steve; and an act of betrayal by her best friend Rachel is the last straw that sends Sophie on the run. Sophie embarks on a secret journey to get her life back on track ... with more zany escapades and misadventures that will keep the reader laughing as they turn the page. With a great cast of characters who are realistic, engaging, with flaws and issues, and who are easy to relate to; witty dialogue and interactions; a richly descriptive and detailed setting in Germany; more passionate romance scenes; and a thoroughly entertaining storyline that takes the reader on a wild roller coaster ride; Sophie's Run is one heck of a fun read! But hold the presses ... author Nicky Wells keeps her readers hanging on and wanting more with another cliffhanger ending that will be continued in the third book of the trilogy, Sophie's Encore!

Nicky Wells has done it again, I was hooked on Sophie' s Turn but Sophie' s Run held me even more captivated! I laughed out loud, was angry, frustrated, felt like I needed to comfort Sophie, cried! I was truly enthralled, I turned page after page because I couldn't put this book down, I had to find out what was going to happen next! Not only was this book full of romance, but lots of obstacles to overcome! I truly hated to see this book end! I'll try to be very patient for next one which comes out in September, I would love to read now, but will wait! I highly recommend this book!
