Overview

Sordid by Nikki Sloane

It took me years to find the courage to speak to Luka. He seemed exactly like me. Intelligent. Focused. Serious.

But he's not the man I imagined.

His reality is cruel and dark. He traps me in his web, his power twisting tighter the more I struggle, until it's hopeless. I can't break free.

As he drags me unwillingly into his filthy world, I can't ignore the terrifying idea circling my mind. What if I belong here with him?

About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Nikki Sloane landed in graphic design after her careers as a waitress, a screenwriter, and a ballroom dance instructor fell through. For eight years she worked for a design firm in that extremely tall, black, and tiered building in Chicago that went through an unfortunate name change during her time there. Now she lives in Kentucky and manages a team of graphic artists. She is a Romance Writers of America RITA© Finalist, is married with two sons, writes dirty books, and couldn't be any happier.

This story is dark, raw, gritty, passionate. There are scenes that could be triggers for some. I could not put it down intrigued from page one, pulling for Luca and Addison!

Sordid is an amazing emotional mind blowing trip to the dark side. (And I loved every moment of the ride!!) I want to give it all the stars!! Addison is a serious "good girl" student with a bit of a crush on her former math PA. Luka is quiet and mysterious but hides a dark side. “The more you fight, the worse it will get. Just accept I am in control now. I own everything.” He made a production of sweeping his gaze downward. “Your body. Your time. Even your choices. Those are all mine now, Addison.” There were some very dark and taboo elements to this story and at times, yes I did question my sanity for how much I love this beautiful story. Nikki Sloane took me out of my comfort zone with this one but seduced me with her gorgeous words. I'm completely in love with Addison, Luka and Nikki!!! "Luka was bad, and the worst part of me hoped he was going to make me be bad along with him. Naughty, slutty, and wrong. I teetered at the edge, wanting him to push me over."

Sordid is like a deeply intoxicating drink of forbidden wine. The first taste is strong and it burns a bit going down. But after a few glasses you get acclimated to the taste and are pleasantly surprised to find the sweet undertones. The next thing you know, you’ve drank the whole bottle, your head is spinning with intoxication and conflicting emotions, and yet you still want more. You really need to be a fan of dark romance for this book to work for you. The tone is dark but the writing is so thoughtful and beautiful. Luca & Addison’s love story is both wild & savage and sweet & tender. Unconventional, blurring lines and obliterating boundaries.

This is not my first Nikki Sloane book as I have been a fan of hers from the first Blindfold Club book. I went into this one with an open mind, knowing she was calling it a dark romance. I thought I knew what that meant, but I really was blown away by my mistake of the category of books. At first, I have to admit this book was difficult for me to get into based on the events from the first few chapters. I can’t say much without giving away major plot points that aren’t public yet, but it was captivating to behold. To see a character change and transform before my very eyes was mesmerizing to me. Although I don’t know if I personally was in Addison’s shoes the story would have turned out the way it had, Sordid was an interesting read full of lies, deceit, and so much passion; to see how Addison goes from her first physical encounter with Luka to the end of the book was completely unpredictable. Their time together is tense and I have so many other very descriptive other words I can’t really use without giving plot information away. The chemistry between these two does progress and drastically change from their first encounter to their last, but parts were still difficult for me to read because this is a dark romance, despite how hot they were. I wasn’t quit sure what "dark romance" meant until I read the first few chapters and realized, “oh that is what Nikki was talking about when she said Dark”. Overall this is a story full of very complex characters and growing between two people who start out on not the greatest of terms. What started out as a book I thought was going to not be a 5 star for me, turned into a 5 star through Nikki’s writing, the personality of the characters and the trauma they go through in their lives during a short time. The relationship that builds before your very eyes when reading this book was just nothing short of a 5 star book for me. Knowing how it all turns out in the end, and the twists Nikki throws in as well, I can't wait to go back and re-read this one!

Nikki Sloane has the gift to write extraordinary luscious enrapturing stories! It DARK! It's TWISTED! It's INTOXICATING Its so GOOD! This book sucks you in from the beginning, you're transfixed into this story & to know the conclusion. You can't read fast enough! This story is so twisted, very dark, brutal, raw, but so good! I'm a huge Nikki Sloane fan, not necessarily a dark romance fan, but could not resist to read the crossover to the dark side romance by my favorite author. As always Nikki produces scorching steaminess, now mixed with a dark, erotic, tantalizing hunger -leaving you wanting more. You feel the power struggle of the main characters emotions, you understand her pain, her turmoiled thoughts as she processes the rage & passion. This story is extraordinarily written causing you to question your own deep dark twisted desires. It's intoxicating perfection! Massive applause & cheers for an outstanding story!

Reviewed for Saints and Sinners Books-B I honestly don’t know how I’m going to explain how amazing this book is or how to put it into words. Sordid is just a great read and once I started, I could not stop. Like, literally. It consumed me from page one, and I had to finish it. It’s definitely a dark romance and not your average sweet and sappy type of book. It’s just one of those books that makes you stop and think, and I for one, am still reeling from it. Sordid is still making me question things I never thought I would but in a good way. And let me just say, it was easy for me to love Addison and Luka. The chemistry between the two is off the charts hot, and I felt that chemistry throughout the entire book. In a way, I wish Sordid never ended, but with all great things, it must come to an end. If you love dark romance, I highly recommend reading this one. I know I’ll be thinking about Sordid for months and I’m now a huge fan of Nikki Sloane.

When i read the bad reviews it made me really curious. If you're someone that can't handle violence then you shouldn't read this book but if you're someone who understands that this is a work of fiction and you appreciate that through it all Luka helped her realize her true self then you'll like this book. It had a beautiful ending and the story was intriguing and well written.

I can not figure out why Amazon banned this book. I have read much worse then this book..the "rape" scene that seems to be upsetting everyone was not a cold and calculating rape but done with love. All in all a wonderful read!!

Look, this is a very dark romance, so if you don't like dark romances, don't buy this book. Personally I loved this book and I've already read it two times. There are some very dark and taboo parts to the story, especially in the beginning, this is definitely not a flowers and sunshine type book, but it's great in its own way.

So I started the book and was shocked. I went back and read the last chapter and was a little encouraged so I kept reading. I stopped and read some reviews and thought okay I'll try to get through the really dark stuff to get the other side of it. I couldn't do it. I have read some dark romance. In fact I just finished a book that was definitely defined as dark but the big difference between the two is the consensual piece. One with, one without (the parts I read). I can see why this book was banned on Amazon. I hate to say it but I think they got it right. I can count on one hand the number of times I have not finished a book but I just couldn't keep reading. I deleted this book from my account.

When I first started reading this book it made me feel a quite uncomfortable but I plowed through and was very glad that I did because the story turned out to be great. This is not a book for the weak at heart but the story of Addison and Luka really flows through and is a good read.

Highly inappropriate and totally wicked. It feel wrong to give this book 5 stars in the beginning, but in the end not so much. Fiction is fiction. Not always of what we fire up is what we want to do or that we'll go do it to other people. It would be good to remember that. Excellently written dark character. It's crazy how he changed from dangerous and violent hero into a sweet and addictive. It's just phenomenal and easily my favorite part of the book. I am not a fan of ends, actually, I do not know what I expected but it seems rushed. If you are not afraid of dark erotica and are not easy offend or too sensitive, it is the book for you. But then and only then, no exceptions.

4.75 Stars Need a clue as to what type of book this is? Hint One: The title. Hint Two: Honestly that wasn’t enough? Did you read the Blurb? Hint Three: Still not got the picture? Well, what about the fact that Amazon kicked it to the curb! Really Amazon more fool you!!! Ladies please …pay attention. This will push buttons, it will test boundaries and sensitivities, this is an intensely dark read with an extra ordinary amount of both sex and violence and on occasion the boundary of sexual consent is obliterated. While the story for may would be considered so wrong, on far too many levels, it was that, that made it magnificent! It pulled no punches, it didn’t shy away from situations that were abrasive and toxic. I felt as if I was being felt firmly by the shoulders to keep me safe, all the while I was being shaken to my core. This is a story that leaves a mark and that is never a bad thing. Luka Markovic is not a nice man, he is all kinds of evil, a product of an upbringing and past that have formulated a hardened soul and empty heart. He completely revels in the cold harsh world he controls. But that being said, please don’t scream but I have to admit that I kind of liked him. Addison Drake has admired the enigmatic Luka from afar for almost two years but it isn’t until she bumps into him at a party her world takes a direction that she could have never imagined. Luka was absorbing and as crazy as he was, I just couldn’t get enough of not only him but his past. The dynamic between him and the other men in his life, his father, brother, uncle…Wow!!! It was impossible not to love Addison and in some ways it was easy to understand what she was going through and why she reacted the way she did. The story was captivating, yes the sex wasn’t all sunshine and flowers and yes there was way more sex than was probably necessary but when it is in the context of the events that were going on I understand why the author loaded the story. I finished the book with a sigh of relief and a smile of contentment but I also finished the story hoping with everything I have that we will get more of the Markovic's!

I have to admit I did not finish the book. It's starts off with the guy raping her after she was really drunk, then kidnapping her, then being abusive. He literally pushes her head underwater to force info out of her. I like reluctance stories, but like I said this is a sick rape story.
