Not even three months into her new marriage, Claire Huntsman finds herself newly widowed. Her beloved husband and best friend, Garret, the very man that drew her from Massachusetts to the Montana Territory from a Mail Order Bride advertisement, has been pronounced missing and dead. Stricken with grief, Claire remains with Garret’s family as she wrestles with uncertainty about her future in the forest-enclosed, mountain town of Timberfalls. She is plagued with fatigue and nausea, and becomes the victim of the worst accusation she could imagine – that she murdered Garret!
But Garret’s not dead. He awakens at the bottom of a cliff to realize that someone has attacked him, and that this same person is probably still at large in Timberfalls. Daunted by the climb ahead of him, Garret nonetheless pushes on ahead, knowing that Claire and the townsfolks of Timberfalls are in danger.
Will Garret make it back to Timberfalls? And can he make it home before anyone else – especially Claire – is hurt?
