Soul Corrupted

by Lisa Gail Green

In SOUL CORRUPTED, the sequel to SOUL CROSSED, life in Heaven isn't all "happily ever after" for Josh and Grace. Now Guardian Angels, they are entrusted with finding and saving the next potential Antichrist. But Grace is consumed with worry about her family, which is dealing with the aftershocks of her death. She's particularly concerned about her brother Noah, who has turned down a dangerous path of drugs and violence-and she's frustrated by the rules of Heaven, which forbid her from contacting them.

Josh has troubles of his own. A former Demon, he questions his ability to guide troubled souls to the light. When he discovers that Noah made a deal with Lucifer and has even been hanging around with Josh's old Demon pal, Keira, he makes a forbidden counter-deal with the Devil to save Noah's soul. Josh's side of the bargain? He has to sever his relationship with Grace.

Josh and Grace's world is about to spin out of control, testing the limits of true love and blurring the border between Heaven and Hell.

SOUL CORRUPTED is the second installment in Lisa Gail Green's Of Demon and Angels series, which started with SOUL CROSSED.

ARC provided by Full Fathom Five via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Review 'Soul Corrupted' is the second book in the 'Of Demons and Angels' series. If you haven't read 'Soul Crossed', the first book, then you can check out my review of it here . It's for those who love anything angel or demons related but it's not your everyday 'angelic' story, this novel really is very cruel, intense and evil at moments (which surprised me once again) yet completely kind, easy and good at others. Be warned that the biblical side of the story is sometimes different in some areas, but had to be created so to make the story. I gave this book a three star mostly because it seemed to be suffering from the dreaded second book syndrome...until the very end that is. Whilst I was reading it I felt that its was not the WHOLE story in a novel, but rather the first PART and the SECOND would be continued in the following novel. I have to point out some flaws: 1. The book is mediocre. 2. It had LITTLE by the way of tension and anticipation. 3. It was NICE but not GOOD. The book kind of felt like it was a gap filler in the series and most of it just dragged on and kept spouting all this stuff that I think did not have significance to the storyline. What I mean is: we follow Grace and Josh as they do all these actions and royally fail. This leads to...the ending. The author did little to create tension or anticipation which would have really helped the book in its pace and flow. This made it seriously monotonous. There were too many nice qualities to the book but not enough good; the ones that make you go 'WOW'. It was sweet at moments and then completely horrifying as we changed from the perspectives of the characters, which leads to... The book was written with alternating perspectives AND in first person for each character. This made it seriously complicated to read at times. You had to make sure to look at the chapter title to know who you were reading about, though sometimes it was pretty easy to guess. Grace the angel, Josh the demon turned angel and Keira the demon are the three main storytellers with Noah, Grace's brother, having one chapter of his own. The grammar and spelling were both good but I DID spot two typos. Overall, a solid three. Congratulations to Lisa Gail Green on publishing 'Soul Corrupted'! Rating Plan 1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. Idea of the book was against my liking. 2 star : Didn't like it, didn't find it interesting or gripping. Seemed to drag on to me. 3 star : An average book. Wasn't bad or good. Everything else was well done. Original idea. 4 star : Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me. I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting. 5 star : I LOVED IT! I stayed up late until 3 am. Author is a genius, characters, plot, idea, development, EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR!

**I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review** 3 ½ stars! When Josh saved Grace’s life and was given another chance at a better afterlife, with Grace at his side in Heaven. They are finally in each other’s arms, but Grace is having trouble adjusting to her new found happiness – worrying that she doesn’t deserve to be so happy when her family is still in such turmoil over her loss. And when her and Josh are put back on Anti-Christ lookout duty, Grace can only think of her family – her little brother Noah who seems to be headed down the path that Josh was once on, straight to the Boss himself. With Keira now battling for Noah’s soul and the Boss trying to distract Grace and Josh from the next Anti-Christ, the two heavenly beings start to feel the strain on their relationship. And now that Josh has made a deal with the Boss once more, in an attempt to keep Grace out of harm’s way and save Noah from a terrible decision, Josh is forced to pretend he no longer loves Grace – which breaks her further, but also helps her pull herself together and realize what she wants and how she needs to get it. The only problem with Grace’s problems is everything – Noah may have already lost a losing battle, Josh might be heading back “downstairs”, and Grace could lose everything she ever loved. It’s a battle of good, evil, and the power of love. I really enjoyed this book – it left right where the last left off, but with Grace’s guilt overwhelming her to the point of affecting everything from her “job” to her relationships. Josh’s all consuming love for Grace should be enough, but you can feel that there is something between them almost from the first page. I definitely thought there could have been a little more insight into Grace’s thoughts for her actions – I was left feeling a little confused and bummed (no spoilers though!). I am hoping that the final book in the series will answer all those burning questions I at least was left with…good middle, but certainly expecting something big for the next book!

I loved the first book so much! So, I knew the second installment would be awesome! I wasn't wrong! This was an excellent read! I absolutely adore the characters. Grace and Josh are obviously my favorites, but I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't much romance in this book. That was actually my least favorite part of the book. Kiera is growing on me. I know, I know, she's a demon. The author developed her character in this book, and she even has her own POV throughout the story. Noah, Grace's brother was a new addition too. He has his own POV too. Okay, so I also don't love the multiple POV's. It seemed like there were too many to really get involved to an intimate level with any of them. The multiple plots with the different characters was intriguing. It kept me flipping the virtual pages in quick succession. I was curious how each situation was going to be resolved. The ending was a total shock! This book had a cliffhanger of all cliffhangers! Now, I can't wait to read the next book, coming next May. Overall, this was a great young adult story. I highly recommend it. This book gets five glittery stars for it's interesting plot and a satisfying read.
