The unforgettable story of CORA and ECHO from Grimnirs continues in the International bestselling RUNES series.

Eighteen-year-old Cora Jemison knows what it's like to date a soul reaper. There are no Friday night movies, no school dances, and no stolen kisses between classes. It totally sucks! What makes it even worse, souls pop up when she least expects it. The last one is not her fault, but it all adds up to zero quality time with her super hot, scythe-carrying boyfriend, Echo.
Since Cora was etched with special runes by an evil Immortal, she understands why souls are drawn to her. She makes the best of it by helping souls find closure while Echo escorts them to the realm of the dead. Perfect partners, until a dark soul visits Cora in the dead of the night and Echo decides her soul-helping days are over.

Cora can either listen to Echo or follow her instincts. To make matters worse, other reapers start stalking her, demanding she hand over the soul. Even her Valkyrie friends think she's gone too far. But something sinister is coming their way, and the soul is the key to saving her town, her friends, and her relationship with Echo. Can she convince Echo to see things her way before it's too late?

Souls is the second book of Cora's story! We see Cora's relationship with Echo grow. We see Echo open up more to Cora about his past life. We also see how much Echo adores Cora and how he would do anything to protect her even if it means asking other Grimnirs for help. Cora has learned how to deal with souls and she also has found a way to help the souls before being taken to Hel's Mist. But who is this dark soul that that keeps coming around and isn't trying to possess her?

Review Of Souls (Grimnirs Book 2, Runes Series Book #5) By Ednah Walters Souls is a roller coaster ride that grips you and doesn't let go, not even with a mind blowing twist that has you reeling until the very end. Just when Cora thought it was safe to walk the halls of her school... BAM, Ednah Walters let's you know that not everything that dies necessarily stays dead. Ednah knows how to build the suspense in her books until it is a powder keg about to explode. Cora Jemison takes her new "job" very seriously. She feels she has a sense of purpose when she is helping souls get closure before they are reaped by Echo. What she isn't prepared for is a dark soul with a mysterious link to Echo to visit her in the dead of night. Cora feels she has to help this dark soul in order to bring peace to Echo and the rest of the Grimnirs and Valkyries. What Cora failed to see was how much of a strain this would put on her and Echo's relationship. Echo has gone along with Cora's efforts to help souls move on. That all changes when he finds out she has encountered a dark soul whom he knows very well. Echo is determined to stop Cora from helping anymore souls including this dark soul. Echo only wants to protect Cora but his stubbornness only ends up pushing Cora further away.  I wish I could say more but I might anger the Norns for revealing too much and they might erase my This book starts out intense and only gets more so the longer you read it until the very last page. On a scale from 1-5 I give Souls a 10. Giving this book a 5 would not do it justice because Ednah packed so much action into this book and such a mind blowing twist a 5 felt like a slap in her If you are looking for an author who knows how to tell a story that keeps you hook from beginning to end then look no further than Ednah Walters. She is a sensational author whom is an automatic buy for me. If you are a fan of Runes Series and the Grimnirs than you need to run out and grab your copy of Souls. If you are new to this series than you really need to pick up Runes, Immortals, Grimnirs, and Seeress, as well as, Souls. Let Cora and Echo show you what it is like to live in their world one soul at a time.

Yay! We get to see Cora again! Ednah just keeps blowing me away every single time. I put down one book and start the next one to see that they just keep getting better. And better. And even better. There was so much action, with twists and turns crammed into this that I literally felt like I was on a roller coaster ride. Just as with the other books, I finished it one sitting. I hope this series never ends. Echora is still going fabulous as ever. I'm glad that Raine's not the only one with a big job - Cora does too! She really is someone I admire, with her desire to help as many people as she can. There's nothing better than a heroine who cares so much. As for Echo, I can't even find words to describe him. Dark souls are an intriguing concept. There's no way I'm gonna give anything away by spoiling, but let's just say that there's a new character that makes everything a lot more interesting. I love it when we learn more about a character's past, and learning about Echo's story let me get to know him a whole lot more. Conclusion? I'll say this as many times as I can - you're seriously missing out if you haven't read this series.

Cora and Echo are an amazing couple. Like the earlier books in this series, Souls is action packed and difficult to put down. Ednah Walters' world of Valkyries and Grimnirs is fascinating. Norse mythology has come to life in these pages.

Yas more juicy Cora and Echo and they seriously need to learn self restraint. Cora is learning her stuff and she's an immortal soul whisperer watch out ghost whisper we got a new show in town and who would have though that our good Winchester boys would show Cora something useful like iron for dispersion of ghosts but she doesn't need that she has her resident reaper to reap em a new one.... See what I did there?... Ok back to our review this is second to last book on our rune series and I've loved the series so far and I want a prom like the "junior prom" Echo gave Cora its awesome.

I received this book from Xpresso Reads in return for a fair and honest review. I know I've already said this but I'll repeat it - the Grimnirs series takes place INSIDE the Runes series. That means that things go on that won't make complete sense unless you've read the other series, which I haven't yet. This doesn't mean that you won't enjoy this book because you will. What it does mean is that you won't fully understand everything that's going on as there are small parts that have happened in other books. Right, now that's done with, let's move onto Souls. Cora is now having training over how to use her runes and also use her powers to help the souls. She has been warned though, about helping 'dark souls'. These are apparently too far gone and way past redemption. So what is Cora supposed to do when one comes to her asking for help? Especially when it is someone from Echo's past. Unfortunately for me, Echo feels like he's missing from a big part of this story, although he is mentioned by the other characters. Dev is there though, to look after and protect Cora as well as making me smile. This is most definitely Cora's story and you will find out just why she has the friends she has and what about her is so special as to completely bewitch Echo. She is not prepared to just accept what others say and will make her own mind up. Once she has decided, she will protect you with everything she has. I like the characters in this series and think that they are written incredibly well. The pacing is steady but steadily building the climax ending. This is definitely a series to keep an eye on and I hope there are more to come.
