Souls Triumphant has something for everyone. Part love story, part fantasy adventure, and filled with action. Readers are thrust into the classic dilemma of good vs. evil. However, this is not the tradition tale that has been written many times. Foley has delivered a refreshing and entertaining read for all ages. Adults and teens will finally have something they agree on¿¿ this is a good book! Love at first sight would prove to be much more than a cliché for Joe and Alessandra. Fresh faced college graduates, they had no way of knowing what lay ahead of them. For it would be vastly different than anything they had imagined. Soon, their very existence would be balanced on a knife edge. Where the slightest misstep would be catastrophic.Ned and his conspirators had been banished from the Kingdom. The Fallen One believed it better to rule than to serve. Ned was physically attractive, had amassed great wealth and was desired by women. Yet, the one thing he wanted more than anything else, lay just out of his reach. That is until he found Alessandra. She was the key! With her, he could have it all! Finally he would have that which had eluded him for all time. Or would he? Could she resist him? Even defeat him?S. William Foley has penned a one of a kind novel, where the characters, while interacting within a fantasy world, could not be more real. Questions of spirituality, ethics and morals are presented through detailed plot lines that could easily be woven into the fabric of our daily lives. Foley has delivered a well constructed novel that combines interesting characters, intriguing dialogue and explosive moral conflicts. This rare mix, will undoubtedly place Foley on the favorites list of many readers.Happy Reading! RJ xx

"Souls Triumphant" is your basic good-versus-evil Christian fantasy. It has flashes of humor and some interesting twists and concepts, but I was ultimately disappointed in the book, primarily due to the technical aspects. The overall writing is a bit purple, with torrid adjectives littering the landscape and exclamation points liberally sprinkled throughout (rather like this sentence). Foley consistently breaks at least three of Mark Twain's rules of literary art: "...(the author shall) 12. Say what he is proposing to say, not merely come near it. 13. Use the right word, not its second cousin. 14. Eschew surplusage." And the characters of Ned and Buddy, in particular, are almost caricatures. The former all but twirls his mustache and swirls his cape, while the latter immediately reminded me of George Burns' 1977 interpretation of divinity, mixed with a bit of Mickey Rooney. I really could have used much more subtlety with not only those characters, but with the Burned Ones in general. Unfortunately, novels of spiritual warfare tend to lend themselves to this kind of writing, and Foley has fallen into the same trap. Christian fiction in general--and Christian fantasy in particular--has a reputation for being second-rate at best (an unfortunate reputation it shares with Christian movies and Christian music), and this particular novel doesn't do much to change that perception. (Oh, for another Lewis, or Tolkien, or even another Lawhead!) On the plus side, Foley has some interesting ideas, the dialogue is generally believable (with a few lapses when he went for the dramatic rather than the realistic), he does an overall good job with the action (as long as he keeps his adjectives under control), and there is the occasional flash of brilliant imagery. He also is not afraid to look at the gritty realities of this world with honest eyes, and is willing to express these realities without trying to archly tiptoe around them. The result is often uncomfortable, but that's what's necessary at the moment. The fact that this is Foley's first novel means that he has plenty of room to grow. I hope to read some of his short fiction to see if he does better in a more succinct genre. I can't recommend "Souls Triumphant", but the underlying promise in this work marks Foley as an author worth watching.

When I first started reading the preface for 'Souls Triumphant' I wasn¿t sure I would like the book. I am not a big fan of science fiction and was hesitant about reading further. However, I am so glad that I did because this book was great! It really has elements of sci/fi, romance, and suspense without being over the top on any of these areas. I think my favorite thing about the book is the moral dilemma the characters face, it is something I thought about for days after finishing the book. 'Now that is a book that has gotten the reader¿s attention!' If you liked the 'DaVinci Code' or 'Angels and Demons' I think you will love 'Souls Triumphant' by Scott W. Foley.

I was very impressed with this book. I have read many books that haven't captured my attention till the second or third chapters but this book had me captivated from page one. I can't wait to read other books by this author.

this book is amazing. I've read his earlier work, and am a former student of his. I find that this book grabs my attention and I couldn't put it down until I finished it.

S. William Foley has done it again. This second book is even more intriguing than his first. From the beginning, I couldn't put it down, and it kept me reading straight through until the end. I loved the unique storyline and the characters, who showed their wonderful and loveable personalities clearly and humanly (they even had flaws with which you could connect.) What else can I say? I love Mr. Foley's books and this one was great!
