GARG's Secret Mission is a wonderful book that’s part of the Space Cop Zack series. It’s sure to interest boys, girls, and their parents. Author Don M. Winn is imaginative and manages to turn box play into an action-packed thriller filled with aliens and space creatures. From page one, readers are thrust into an assignment to find Garg, who was on a secret mission to rescue the princess from the water planet, but he lost contact with Central Command. And suddenly Zack has a new mission. Children will enjoy the travel into outer space, but if they get trapped in the Windy Cavern of Doom and all the exits are all sealed, how will they escape? Travel with Space Cop Zack and battle the Somnosaurus and the Strangulation Worms of Zargos 7. The illustrations by Dave Allred are really good and add so much to the story. The bright, bold renderings are filled with action and leap out of the pages. I really enjoyed reading this picture book—it’s filled with excitement, action, creative images, and suspense! I loved the plot twist at the very end. At the end of the book, there’s a page with questions that parents can discuss with their children, which will open communication and help children develop a better understanding of what they just read. I encourage parents to get a big box that children can sit in to create their own adventures—even a chair will do. This book will definitely inspire them. I can see children reading Space Cop Zack: GARG's Secret Mission more than once—I know I did.
