About the Author

Jessica Peterson began reading romance to escape the decidedly unromantic awkwardness of her teenage years. Having found solace in the likes of Mr. Darcy, Jamie Fraser (OMG love the gingers!), and Edward Cullen, it wasn't long before she began creating tall, dark and handsome heroes of her own.

She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, Mr. Peterson, and her smelly Goldendoodle Martha Bean.

This book was amazing! I LOVED Rafa and Viv and how their whole relationship blossoms and develops. It was sexy, it was sweet, and now I want to go to Madrid darn it! The whole dynamic between these two, the push and pull, and the attraction they have to each other just pulls you in and keeps you up and reading till all hours of the night. It was amazing and you should totally read it

I was a bit worried that I would be lost at first, because I am the ultimate white girl(hahaha) and cant read, speak, or understand Spanish at all. But it was an awesome book. Vivian has been hurt so many times that she is not looking for a hookup when she goes to Spain to Study Abroad. Soon she meets the man of her dreams. She denies herself so much, but soon she realizes some things cant be denied. I loved this book. It made me laugh it made me cry. It made me fall in love with Spain and makes me want to go visit it myself. I absolutely loved Vivian. She reminds me of myself in the ways she thinks. I definitely can relate to her in some ways. This book definitely left me on a cliff hanger. I can't wait to see what happens in Maddie's story....Stormi

Spanish Lessons was a sweetly, romantic story of an American student, Vivian, who is studying abroad with her best friend. On the night she arrives in Spain, she meets Rafa, a sex Spaniard and there is an instant attraction between them. The exchange numbers, but Viv is disappointed when he doesn’t contact her. As she starts classes, she needs a tutor. Her director sets her up with a tutor who turns out to be…Rafa. Sparks fly, but Viv has reservations and there are, of course, complications standing in the way of their happiness. Jessica Peterson is a new voice in the New Adult genre, but has a solid background writing historical romances. I was impressed with the writing. Her words flowed easily, the characters were likable (or lovable in Rafa’s case) but believable, with real flaws and real worries. There is the perfect amount of steamy romance. A swoonworthy hero, a lovable heroine and a quirky cast of characters make this a must buy read.

4 Stars | Hot Steam SPANISH LESSONS has been impatiently perched at the top of my TBR-ASAP list since the moment I flew through its first two chapters on author Jessica Peterson’s website. Instantly enticing and brimming with the youthful promise of worldly adventure and amour, I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next to Vivian and Rafa after their simmering late night meet cute in Madrid. Over the weekend I finally got the chance to indulge. And, sigh…So, so good! Beautifully written from cover to cover, this vibrant, thrilling, and blissfully sexy romance is the dreamiest New Adult escape that I’ve read in a long time! I couldn’t tear myself away—happily immersed and living ever so vicariously through Vivian’s darling perspective as she navigated her new, enviable Spanish surroundings and fell hard for, quite possibly, the world’s most perfect NA hero, Rafa. Vivian is a delightfully appealing heroine, and so easily relatable. We’ve all been in her endearing shoes—young, overwhelmed, overheated, and feeling the euphoric rush of blossoming attraction leading to the ecstasy of that first real love. I enjoyed each wobbly step she took to discover herself and her own happiness. As her story progressed and her stumbles transitioned to confident strides, I cheered her on as she grew stronger, more self-assured, and brave enough to chase her destiny in life and love. She needs a few pep talks and pushes along the way, but, when she gets there and Rafa’s there waiting…it is glorious! To say Rafa is the ideal hero is no understatement. He’s absolutely every single thing a girl could ever crave, deserve, and endlessly adore in a man. All day long and then all through the night, adore! ¡Dios mío! I loved that man. He’s got tall dark and handsome covered for his entire generation, but he’s so much more than his dance moves and killer smile. Rafa’s the kind of hero that every man should aspire to be—honest, kind, tender, affectionate, compassionate, mature, worldly, and—surprise—not a manwhore! He’s a gentleman. Hooray! *throws confetti* He refreshingly, needs no fixing nor redeeming before he can attempt to win Vivian’s heart. I couldn’t get enough of him. All of his joy, goodness, passion, and swoon-worthy sensuality… To quote Vivian, “I want. Badly, I want.” I loved Madrid. I loved this couple. I loved this romance! And, for all of us who can’t wait for Vivian’s tear-soaked bestie Maddie to get her own much needed HEA, we only have to wait one month! *throws ticker tape parade* Maddie and Javier’s story, LESSONS IN GRAVITY, releases March 15, 2016! Bottom line: Pour the sangria and prepare to swoon! Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

I received a personal invitation from the author to review this book (which was a complete and unexpected honor for me) and to be totally honest I had no idea what to expect. I had never read anything by Jessica Peterson so I went online to scope her out. First thing I noticed was WOW, she's really pretty ;) - and it appeared that maybe she only wrote historical romance. My tastes lean more toward contemporary but I was already committed and the blurb sounded good so I dove in. .... And I am soooo glad I did. Spanish Lessons is one beautiful story. Honestly I have not smiled that much reading a book in I dont remember how long, if ever. Even my husband commented on how much I must be enjoying it. From the very beginning of the story I was hooked right away as Vivian starts her journey to Spain to begin her semester of study. I loved every minute, every page. Im smiling as I write this review just remembering all the craziness she and her friends got themselves into because it all felt so very real. I guess it took me back to when I was in college. The author really took you inside Vivian's head and in doing so, took me inside my own head - because Viv was nothing if not a typical college age girl with the same dreams and fears that we all have. Trying to balance life and love. And Rafa. Whoa. He is a dream come true. Just wait until you meet him. Knight in shining armor. That is all I can say about him, honestly or I will throw down spoilers and ruin the book for everyone. :) Now for the technical stuff. Like I said earlier, Spanish Lessons was beautifully written. The plot was just perfect, the story line flowed at just the right pace - if real life didnt get in the way I could have read the entire book in one sitting. The characters were very complex and well developed. Everyone had their own distinct personality, even the crazy dog. Editing was super clean - no grammatical/spelling errors caught my eye. I cant say enough good things about this book - honestly I cant. I was nothing short of a solid 5***** Wickedgoodstar book for me and I will recommend it to anyone and everyone! Thank you so much Jessica Peterson for the opportunity to read/review this wonderful book! PS. I cannot WAIT for Maddie to get her story!
