Sparky and Eddie are best friends and want to be in the same class when they go back to school. However, when they find out that they have different teachers, they promise each other to never go to school again. After their parents make them realize how much this will hurt their teachers if they do not show up, they promise to try it out and if they do not like it, then they will not every go back. When they go to their respective classes, they realize that school is fun and interesting, and perhaps more importantly, that they can still be friends even though they do not spend every waking minute with one another. A nice story about friendship and separation, with colorful illustrations. The voice is youthful and flows with a kind of sing-songy quality, while the language is youthful and quirky. I recommend this book for the children's section of a public library.
