I thought this book was spot on! Having completed three Spartan races I found something that was missing since having left the Marine Corps. This book covers all aspects as to what to expect when doing a Spartan race and most importantly it shows you how to prepare your mind for any obstacle in life. It covers nutrition, health, training, diet, and gives good examples of amazing tasks that other warriors have accomplished. I give it 30 Burpess!!!

Just what I needed, when I needed it! I have been running and exercising pretty consistently for about 4 years. Lately my drive had really left me. Then I read this book and it really got the juices flowing again! Maybe I'll even do a Spartan race:)

Highly motivating! I am a runner and have never participated in a Spartan Race, but this book isn't just about Joe De Sena's race. It is about having "True Grit" and preparing yourself to conquer life and training challenges. The book describes how to "Spartan Up" and leave your comfort zone in order to gain physical and mental strength needed to build stamina. It also discusses eating right and how to find balance in your life. The message in this book is for everyone no matter what you are training for.

This book is not only a must have for those who enjoy Spartan races but for anyone willing to grow as a person. While reading you can get a sense for Joe De Sena's passion for ripping people off their couches to lead happier and healthier lives. This book will change people's lives just like the Spartan Race itself changed mine. A hearty AROO to one helluva read!

Excellent coaching book for improving your life especially if you want to make it challenging and fulfilling. Lots of good tips to face and take on challenges both on an obstacle course race and in life. It all starts with your mind and attitude - from there you can build anything if you work at it. It's definitely worth the quick read to get inspired to improve your life!
