Allons! (Let's go!)
Comment çava?
Çava très bien!

Yes, "laissez les bons temps rouler"—"let the good times roll"—has become the unofficial motto of Cajun culture. But if you're in South Louisiana, you're much more likely to hear "comment çava" (how's it going?) as the typical greeting. And a response of "çava très bien" (it's going very well) or "çava pas bien" (it's not going well). Or my favorite response, "comme ci commeça" (like this like that, or so-so).

How to Talk Cajun seeks not just to teach you some common Cajun French words and phrases, but also explain parts of Acadian culture, dispel some common myths and "passer un bon temps" (pass a good time) along the way. Tout de suite (immediately, right away)!
