SPIRITUAL STEPS ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS: GAINING THE GOAL WITHOUT LOSING YOUR SOUL by Linda Seger

For decades, many of us have concentrated on personal success at the price of our spirituality. Now, Dr. Linda Seger, a successful Hollywood insider who has dealt with the competition and worldly spirit of the film and television industry, reveals how you can attain your goals and desires without compromising your relationship with God. Dr. Seger tackles these important issues: how do you identify your calling? Handle risk? Cope with praise or blame? Identify and confront evil in our work? Deal with competition? Take the Leap of Faith? Meet and overcome the Seven Deadly Sins? The book is based on her own experiences while trying to build her career as she became a world-renowned script consultant. She also interviewed over 30 people from all six continents and from the arts, the sciences, and business and reveals and identifies success and spirituality issues that have rarely been discussed before. The book won the "Enduring Light/ Inspirational" Illumination Book Award for Exemplary Christian writing.

This book really touches on many aspects of finding your calling and how do you know if that is what Jesus is calling you to? It really will get you thinking and pondering many areas in your life. What are you doing? Do you feel you are doing what God has called you to do? And if not, why? This book will encourage you to examine these questions and so much more. Overall, I really did enjoy this book, it really was much more “spiritual” than I was anticipating. I thought it might be a bit dry but it really wasn’t. My only question or concern might be things seemed very “spiritual” but not really talking about Jesus a whole lot. I guess that could have been to make this book more open to other religions but I guess my thought it if I’m a Christian that is the only belief I want to write about and I want to bring God more glory by sharing Jesus with others. But I really did enjoy the book and it gave me so much to think about. A copy of this book was given to me thought The Book Club Network, Inc. All opinions are my own.

“Spiritual Steps on the Road to Success” by Linda Seger was a very interesting read. Linda Seger uses her experience as a successful Hollywood insider to show how you can achieve your goals and desires without compromising your relationship with God. This book addresses is divided into three sections such as “Beginning the Journey”, “Travelling the Rocky Road”, and “Nearing and Arriving at the Goal.” Each section has lots of little tidbits of useful information. This is a book that I will keep on my shelf and refer back to. This book was written in a very easy to read format. I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.

In my quest for spiritual growth, understanding, and awareness, I have explored the teachings of multiple religions of the world. I have found that they all have a similar and comparative underpinning as their respective basis. Unanimously, they proclaim personal integrity that includes universal respect for all creation. This is where Dr. Seger begins her great insights in her milestone book “Spiritual Steps on the Road to Success.” From this basis, she shows the reader how to build the stairway to individual success that also serves the larger construct of society without compromising personal integrity. After all, as Dr. Seger quotes Mark 8:36: “What good is it for a (hu)man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” Joel Goldsmith (The Infinite Way) profoundly stated that the spiritual life is the practical life. Dr. Seger, in her magnificent work, gives the reader an exact map of how to achieve professional success while maintaining personal ethical principles. Her insightful approach offers a foundation that anyone of faith can embrace. She reminds the reader that inner purpose supersedes any other-directed temptation to appease a temporal and whimsical world, nor is the latter necessary for success. Dr. Seger’s “Spiritual Steps to Success” is the fast track to the realization of one’s goals. I heartily recommend it to anyone regardless of one’s religious beliefs. Its wisdom applies to everyone.
