Overview

Spring Tide by K. Dicke

To the dismay of her family, Kris Edwards postpones college, despite a full-ride scholarship, and moves to the beach. She has a crazy feeling there's something she has to find to figure out her life, and it's at the coast.

She' pretty sure that something isn't Jericho, the too-hot surfer with amazing blue eyes. He's way out of her league. And is that an actual electric spark that happens every time she touches him? She doesn't have time for him-not with two jobs, a boozer neighbor, and her best friend's stalker on the scene. Not to mention the weird black mist over the water or outside her workplace that no one seems to notice but her.

But there's more to Jericho than Kris realizes, and she can't blow him off so easily. He's in tune with the magic of the tides, and only he knows of the evil that's washed ashore and is coming for her. The closer Kris gets to him the more danger she's in. But he can't let her be-he's been waiting years for her.

With Jericho by her side, Kris might find what she's looking for. Or she might lose everything.

About the Author

K. Dicke (it's pronounced Dick-ee, 'nough said) left the lucrative-but-boring field of accounting to pursue her dream of having superpowers--or at least writing about superpowers. She might be one of very few Midwestern moms who loves both surfing and needlepoint.

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review Against the wishes of her friends and family, Kris Edwards decided to take a year off of school before starting college. She and her friends are spending the Summer at Corpus Christi, where she plans on spending her year off. While there, she meets Jericho, a surfer who won't give up no matter how many times she turns him down. When she finally relents and starts to date him, she feels very much at peace as they start to connect. However, she feels there's definitely much more to him than he will admit. She's just not sure if that's good or bad. Overall, I liked the characters of this story. It was mostly in Kris's POV, but the snippets in Jericho's are what kept me reading. His POV let you know there was definitely something big going on while he's determined to show Kris that she's the one he's been waiting for for years. The story itself is very slow moving. Nothing really happens until close to the ends. Then it kind of cuts off and you are left waiting until the sequel comes out. I would recommend it for those that don't mind a slow build into a new supernatural world. The characters are interesting to follow and almost make it worth reading.
