Interesting view of conditions inside the Third Reich during WWII, plus a fascinating character in Kolbe.   This could be made into a terrific movie.

This is an interesting book for those who want to learn more about WW II and especially espionage agents inside the German Reich. What makes it more amazing is that the main character is a German working within the diplomatic corps. He finally gets the recognition he deserved, but the Americans did not do well by this man because of their inner department problems: OSS, the American Army and Naval spy groups, each paid too little attention to what the German agent provided. They couldn't believe or conceive that the information was "good". They thought the German agent was a plant by the Nazis. They played it safe for YEARS before someone lit a fire under them and got them to recognize what this man was offering was important. The Americans woke up late in 1945! The agent had been providing in depth material, with pictures, since the early 1940s.
