*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review* Danny Mancini is a detective. And a good one at that. He’s trying to find a serial killer who’s been draining the blood from his victims when he finally comes across him. Unfortunately bullets don’t work on him because he’s a 200 year old vampire. Danny gets knocked out and wakes up in the hospital talking about the paranormal and when he goes and explains what happened to him, they put him on early retirement. Two years go by and Detective Angelica Cross knocks on his door saying that not only does she believe him, but that there is a whole part of the FBI that is dedicated to hunting down paranormal creatures. Danny goes to work with Angelica, and is a little unsure of himself and unsure of the werewolf in charge of weapons and training, but Angelica makes work interesting and fun. Angelica loves working with Danny, but she has to be careful because she has a lot of secrets that may just make Danny run for the hills. I really enjoyed this story. It was fast paced, funny, and such a simple fast read. All the revelations that came about were really good. There were some moments that were a bit predictable, but I still totally want to continue on with the series and see what’s in store next. ***Review has been done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official. Reviewed by Susan Sewell for Readers' Favorite Stake Out by Lily Luchesi is an exciting supernatural novel about a secret paranormal unit in the FBI, hunting down a vicious killer. Danny is sidelined and retired after he is attacked by a bloodsucking beast. Danny is adamant about what he saw and what happened at the scene, but nobody believed his fantastic report. Ostracized by his fellow officers and deemed emotionally unfit to work in the Chicago Police Department any longer, Danny goes into a deep depression. However, two years later he is approached by the FBI and asked to help them hunt down the savage monster that attacked him and murdered the girl he was trying to rescue. At first, Danny is unsure about working with non-humans, but when the woman who was his partner at CPD becomes the next victim, he immediately joins the paranormal unit and becomes a temporary agent. Nothing is the same in the FBI unit, not weapons, not protocols, nor humans. Will Danny be able to get past his bigoted mindset and work with the non-human agents or will he become the next victim? Stake Out by Lily Luchesi is a spectacular supernatural novel about a man's first encounter with non-human beings that live in the night. This is a thrilling story about those creatures that incite our imagination and terrify us when we walk alone in the dark. Danny meets these beings that we only know from horror flicks and campfire stories. He now has a new understanding of those sinister incidents that transpire in the concealing darkness of the night and realizes that they are not fiction. Sickened by these discoveries, he has difficulty coping with this new and unfamiliar frame of reference. It is sad that he let his intolerant, narrow-minded ideas affront those with whom he works. He didn't even try to understand. To him, the only good vampire is a slain vampire. It is a fascinating idea that bigotry extends far past human beings. This is a phenomenal supernatural novel for those who love creatures of the night sagas. I really enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to reading the sequel.

Lily Luchesi's "Stake-Out" and "Miranda's Rights" are the first two tales in the Paranormal Detectives series. I loved them. I couldn't put them down. I loved the mythology of the vampires and other beings. The precognition and memory recall was an interesting feature as well. There is a "closed door" approach to the intimate scenes. In "Stake-Out," your heart cries out for Danny & Angelica. "Miranda's Rights" starts with a bombshell and the action never ceases! I will definitely be reading more from this author!

A great start to a promising series! A killer on the loose, a doomed romance, and paranormal creatures functioning in modern society make for an exciting story. It has issues that usually accompany an author's first book like head-hopping confusion and showing versus telling, but the story itself shines through. I enjoyed the bit of mystery and romance just as much as the action and fight scenes. Very well done and can't wait to read the sequel!

I was skeptical to read this book & here's why. First, it's a debut novel. Second, it features vampires. So, I read the reviews &, when even the 3 star reviews said that it was an amazing book, I read it. I'm so glad I did! This book is not your cliché vampire book. This book is fast paced. Nothing is boring in between the scenes. What's so awesome is that the vampire is a fierce, independent woman! The writer is vivid in her descriptions of the characters & the places. You feel as though you're there. I need her sequel now to read more about Danny & Angelica. Lily Luchesi is so talented. Her word descriptions are some of the best!
