About the Author

The author who was attached to Charlie Company First Battalion 351st Infantry Regiment of the 88th Blue Devil Division Ski Troops served in northern Italy bringing out German POWs from fortified mountains in the Italian Alps. His outfit later became TRUST the first Trieste U.S. Troops to permanently occupy disputed territory between Italy and Yugoslavia, which included the important port of Trieste on the Adriatic. His garrison in 1946 turned back Marshal Tito and his army who were determined to take Trieste. Later that disputed territory became part of Italy.
