Great writing! This account of an environmental issue is as fascinating as a good murder mystery.

A marvelous book! Got to know the people of the mountains as well as the politics of their land. Kept me on edge all the time and I couldn't eat, sleep, or do anything till I had read it all.

Mesmerizing...and ashamed that I had not known or followed it at the time. These are my mountains, and close as we are in the NW piedmont of NC, I did not know of this fight until hearing it on Roanoke public radio, wvtf. Thank and rest when you can, Jay. Your work is getting ever busier with our new legislatures.
