Standing His Ground: Greer by Jamie Begley

The Porter brothers were raised to live and die by Three Rules.
One, a Porter always keeps what's his.
Two, a Porter leaves no enemy standing.

Greer's been searching for love in all the wrong places. He wants kids ... and lots of them, so it's time to get busy and find the lucky woman to share his bed and his life. Though there isn't a lot to choose from in the small town of Treepoint, he has managed to narrow his choices down to three.

The strange thing is, the one he's falling in love with remains a mystery, hiding her face and name in the messages she sends from behind her computer. The mysterious woman may dodge his questions about her identity, but it's only a matter of time before she finds out that this Porter brother won't back away from something he wants, and he wants her.

Come hell or high water, he will find the one who goes by KentuckyGirl and make her his, despite what anyone says, even her. And KentuckyGirl is going to find out the last Porter rule the hard way: A Porter always stands his ground and leads his prey into his waiting arms...

This wad a grwat example of why Jamie Begley is a great character writer. Everyone seems to think that they understand who Greer Porter is, until you read this book. Loved it. Greer is almost as complex as Viper. Most are going to say that Rider is the most complex, but I think his book's going to show just who Rider is. Love the Last Riders and Porters. Love all Jamie's characters.

This series is not as good as the MC one. While Greer was likable and determined, I found much of the book cluttered with too much information about other characters. I skipped through pages that took away from the main story. I felt there was too much "filler" and not enough story.

Every book by JB is a win, but Greer stands out as one of the greats. Shade will always be #1 to me, but Greer is a very close second. I cried for his past and the size of this man's heart. His Kentuckygirl is one lucky lady!

So I love Jamie Begley's book and I have allllll of them but this one and Hostage are my least favorites. It felt a bit disjointed and I could not get into caring about the H/h. Usually Ms Begley's books are a "read in one sitting" kind of books but I had to stop for a while and came back to finish it. Greer's "powers" in taking people to "heaven" was too much. Also I never warmed up to Holly.....she never seemed too sorry about all the mayhem she caused in the earlier book. She also seemed a bit presumptuous reg "her house, her kitchen, her chickens".....esp since she felt she was not part of the family. Also the ending action seemed unbelievable came out of left field. Overall though, it was a good light read.

There is just something about Greer that you can't help but love despite how horrible he behaves. I always wanted Holly for him ... for some reason I always believed that he deserved a kind and gentle woman like her. As always, Jamie never disappoints!!!
