Surprisingly good. It's space opera, and SF romance - but the combination adds up to a pretty good story. The characters have something like depth to them, the problems they find seem less than completely contrived, the various enemies are of interestingly different types and dealt with appropriately. I like it.

Commando Islaen Connor has discovered what she needs to know about the peaceful planet Visnu - it's been illegally colonized, improperly explored, and was never cleared for settlers. Now she just has to stay alive until she can report the unauthorized settlement to the proper authorities - and those responsible for the colonists presence would prefer to see her stop breathing at the earliest possible moment.Varn Torl Sogan wants nothing more than to escape his past. But when he sees beautiful woman attacked he helps her out without considering what he may be giving away. Can old enemies learn to trust one another and manage to stay alive long enough to evade certain death? The innocent Amonites had better hope so, because the pair may hold their only hope for survival against a ravening hoard of alien insectoids. This was one of my absolute favorites growing up, and I still re-read it periodically. Strong characters and a lovely romance to go with the sci-fi.
