If you saw the movie then the book is not too much different. It's still an enjoyable and fun read. I was hoping for a little more character development in the book. But I still enjoyed it.

This was an overall great movie for an alternate universe with good storyline. The book played out a little better than the movie. Note to the publisher. The NOOK version is more expensive than the paperback? This is not good marketing or business. Please review and revise this practice. As I own a NOOK, it sincerely begs to asks the question of obtaining the book elsewhere and converting to read on the NOOK. Please advise.

Foster is a master at taking a movie script and turning it into an entertaining book. He fills in the little cracks in plot and answers questions about characters {giving them more depth] which are not covered in the movie.

Mr. Sulu—take us out. Did you see the film? If you had a problem with them remaking one of the most classic science-fiction movies of all time in an inferior manner, then this novelization is not going to win you over. What you have here is a faithful adaptation of that film which really differs only minutely from the movie on which it is based. Alan Dean Foster, still the king of film novelizations (a very under-appreciated skill), has expertly captured everything you’ve loved, and possibly hated, about the movie. What’s cool about reading this in book form is it gives you time to appreciate some subtle detail and nuance which flew by in wiz-bang fashion during the theater experience. While not as great as his novelizations of the Alien films, which were really more like director’s cuts, this one gets the job done.

The book and the movie are very close, and they are both very good. There are only slight differences between the two In the audio version of the book, I particularly enjoyed the reader's performance. Alice Eve gave a good interpretation of the main characters as well as the one she portrayed in the movie. She should read more audiobooks.

Loved it! This exceded my expectations. I havn't seen the movie yet, so I was all excited to be reading a new ST novel. And wow!-this was a really good one. It is a page turner, moves very fast with both action and the expected interplay between the characters. I'm going to be very diappointed if Abrams doesn't hurry up with his next. and keep them coming. My only disappointment was due to EWs spoiler which gave away the big shocker-and no, I don't live in a cave EW. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys ST and/or SF/F. Bravo!

Consider Trek is about 10 years older than Wars. And get your facts straight. Do you see 6 TV shows, 12 motion pictires, and scores of books on Wars? NOPENOPENOPE
