A good conclusion to the story that's been told in this line of books and a very welcome return to where the series started. It takes the aerial combat from the first book and the covert action from the second book and drops all the political maneuvering. I also liked the fact that a reveal from the end of the previous book didn't dramatically change one of the characters in this one. Well, more accurately, I like that the character nearly gets himself killed when he tries to do something without any previous training. If I had one complaint, its that there are a few parts where the author tells instead of shows. In the middle of the book there were events are described in briefings or planning meetings instead of as they happen. "The Rogues are doing what? We'll do this to counter that." "The Imperials have done what to counter our plans? We'll make this change to counter their counter." "The Rogues have changed their plans? Let us change ours." I'm not complaining about the chess match going on. I just wanted to see the pieces being moved on the board a little more.

Read it several years ago and enjoyed very much. I gave my paperback copy away to a relative and I decided to read it again!

The fourth book in the series by Micheal A Stackpole tells a story of much intrest. Stackpole combines Science Fiction with some every day family problems. Wedge and the rest of the squadron resign from the new republic to attack Ysane Isard at a world calle Tyfera. A good book I give it five stars.
