Starfire is a hilarious and satisfying ending to the Peaches Monroe series. I’ll be the first to admit that the cover of a book makes a difference if I decide to read the synopsis of a book. I know that’s shallow of me, but come on! I know you do it, too. Anyway, the cover of Starfire caught my eye when I saw it in my news feed on Facebook. It’s gorgeous! It’s a has a little of everything–sweet, naughty, and romantic. When I got the blog tour invite to read Starfire, I was excited to read the first two books in Mimi Strong’s Peaches Monroe series as well. In Starfire, Petra “Peaches” Monroe comes back home to Beaverdale, Washington after spending time in L.A. modeling. You learn in the first book Stardust, Peaches isn’t your average gal. She has no filter from her brain to her mouth, she doesn’t think before she acts, and she lives her life without apology. She has a hilarious sense of snarky humor and it shows when she frequently disparages her voluptuous body to anyone who attempts to compliment her. But despite this, she doesn’t let her “plus-size” status stop her from becoming a lingerie model or capturing the hearts of multiple hot as sin men. Basically, Peaches Monroe is living large! *gong* Yes, I know. I shouldn’t quit my day job. The men in Peaches’ life are completely swoon-worthy. You have the gorgeous star of the hottest vampire TV show Dalton Deangelo and the high-school crush/best friend Adrian who suddenly isn’t the skinny bean pole he use to be. Peaches’ handling of her love life is the most frustrating aspect of this book. For a person who is as loose lipped as she is, she cannot express her true feelings to the men in her life. But to her credit, neither can they. They dance around the subject causing me to bite my nails until my $30 manicure is torn to shreds. The “dancing around” aspect is in the form of hot sex, hilarious dialogue, and straight out running from each other. As I read these scenes, I literally wanted to cage these characters together and force them to deal with their feelings. The sex scenes in Starfire is crazy hot! When these crazy characters aren’t driving you nuts with their outrageous shenanigans, they’re screwing each other’s brains out in the hottest ways possible. The chemistry between Dalton and Peaches is palpable. Even if they are angry with each other, they can’t keep their off one another. From bathtubs and canoes, these two manage to make the most outrageous places to have sex even hotter. Peaches and Dalton don’t have limitations and we see their every delicious sexual whim satisfied. I really enjoyed Starfire. It’s very well written and hilariously funny. I really respect writers who can infuse romance and humor. Mimi Strong does a great job with both. The storyline flowed pretty smoothly, keeping the reader interested throughout the book. Both Peaches and Dalton’s characters had great skeletons in the closet. However, I think when some their secrets were revealed, it was a bit anti-climatic. I wanted Mimi to address these huge issues a bit more. I also think the humor was a bit distracting in parts of the more emotional scenes. I think if the snark was pulled back a bit during those scenes, they would have made a bigger impact on the reader. That said, Starfire is a great read and I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars! First book had so much promise. Second one turn a wrong turn and this one just derailed. The most redeeming feature was that at times it was funny.

Peaches is a little lost when we start, she is back home and working at the book store but is this who she really is/what she should be doing. Enter a blast from the past, Adrian, the guy she had a crush on in high school who suddenly has feelings for Peaches. Again, I didn't expect Peaches to have another guy in her life, I want Dalton to be the guy. Well, Mimi Strong continues to deliver the goods as we get all the craziness that happens to Peaches as Dalton does reappear and he isn't giving up without a fight. Sigh! Well, and there is that NDA she signed without reading … Dalton pretty much owns her now, what a great trick! This is a bumpy ride but you have to love Dalton's perseverance as he recognizes Peaches is struggling to find herself in all of this chaos.

Skye and Charlie are such fun characters! Love reading this tango between Skye and Charlie. It was like a chase between a cat and mouse. You have Skye who is like the mouse would be around briefly, have her fun and make a run for it. Charlie is the cat who loves to have fun and keeps trying to grip his claws onto Skye! When these two are together, they have so much. Some of the love scenes are so hot! Unfortunately, Skye has issues that she does need to overcome both internally and externally. Charlie does want to be that knight in shining armor to rescue her. Who wouldn't want this hunky guy to save them? This was not an extremely long read, but the length of the novel had so much material to keep me entertained. Just like a good majority of Mimi's books, a lot of humor and steamy, hot moments! Great job Mimi! (ARC provided by the author)
