Kat Jennings and Scott Murphy don't just play two people who are secretly in love on a television sitcom--they are also head over heels for each other in real life. When the lines between reality and TV land blur, they hope they can keep their relationship under wraps. But when Kat's grandmother, an aging Hollywood starlet with a penchant for wearing elaborate evening gowns from Golden Age movies, mistakes their on-screen wedding proposal for the real deal, things begin to spiral out of their control. Will their secret be front-page news in the tabloids tomorrow? And can their budding romance survive the onslaught of paparazzi, wedding preparations, and misinformed in-laws?

From the sound stage to a Beverly Hills mansion to the gleaming Pacific Ocean, Stars Collide takes readers on a roller-coaster tour of Tinseltown, packing both comedic punch and tender emotion.

There were numerous reasons I wanted to read/write a review on Stars Collide; I will list some of them here: *Hollywood (been there, love it!) *Movie Stars (although I have no desire to be one, it IS fun to think about being rich and people thinking I'm ALL THAT!) *LOVE (I love a great love story!) *Television sitcom (I think it would be fun to be an actress on a television show! I can be a fabulous drama queen-ask my family!) *Comedy (I love to laugh!) What I thought would be a "fun book", turned into an amazing personal adventure! I LOVED this book! I loved the entertainment it provided-and that I couldn't put it down! When my long workday ended, I loved that I had a fabulous adventure to run home to read! Not to mention, as a parent, I loved that I had a great book to get excited about and read while encouraging my children to do the same! I have one of her books on order and can't wait to read every one seh's written! I love the way she writes, her writing style, and how her book flows. I truly admire her as an author and want to grow up to be just like her! I would HIGHLY recommend this book if you're anything like me! You will NOT be sorry, I promise!

This is a book for someone who is looking for an escape. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was told from the Christian perspective of Holywood, which is refreshing! It touches upon the subjects of loss and dealing with issues surrounding people advancing in age with grace and insight.

This was absolutely the most adorable story! Dealing with Alzheimer's in a sweet, loving, and sometimes comical way made this story so sweet. But the best the center of every whirlwind that popped up, God was the center! Beautiful story!

I rate this 1/2 of a star. The book was dumb & boring. Found myself skipping pages. I am a Christian but this was so very preachy that it became irritating. Even for a freebie it is a waste of time.

The story started out ok, but then i felt like everything was linked to being a Christian to the point where the story got awkward because it wasnt a natural flow. I also feel as if Grandmas character had some completely out there moments to the point where it just made the story worse off.

I've read three other books by this author and she had a similar issue. The female character in every scene gets choked up. In the weddings by bella series, every person had tears in their eyes on every other page. In this book, she consistently had a lump in her throat. After the weddings by bella series i said i wouldn't likely read anymore by mrs. Thompson, but i wasn't paying attention and bought this book. I quickly realized my mistake with the monotony. Also, the story didn't have the necessary dramatic elements to make it a truly gripping read. The final "episode" of the show is quite fun though.

I downloaded this on my Nook when it was offered for free. I must confess that I struggled to get through the first 2 chapter and then gave up. Perhaps it improved further in but, oh my goodness, those first two chapters were painful to read and laden with one cliche after another. "His baby blues stared down into my soul" "Everything seemed to move in slow motion" "Just as Scott swept me into his arms for that magical moment..."? In Chapter 1? Perhaps this is a sequel and all the character development had taken place in a precious novel. I don't know. I had understood it to be the first in a series. "Christian fiction" should be a synonym for excellence. Regretfully, this book made it a synonym for mediocrity.

I didn't see this anywhere in the synopsis that this was Christian fiction, which isn't my cup of tea. I couldn't even get a couple of chapters into it.

Good book,i'm a christian, and although I am a strong believer some parts of the book where a tad over religious almost making it awkward. Other than that the book is amazing with an interesting twist at the end!

This book was fantastic! I absolutely LOVED everything about this book, that Janice Thompson penned. She is an amazingly seasoned author, and she knows how to take characters and blend them perfectly with her plots and turn out a novel that will keep her readers captured-hook line and sinker. She is one of my all time favorite authors, and she can make me laugh, cry and everything in between with her books! In Stars Collide, the characters are hilariously perfect for their rolls. Kat Jennings is the heroine and what a heroine she is! She is ultimately dealing with issues of losing her mother at a young age, her father walking out on her and never coming back, and being raised by her grandmother, a past Hollywood legend who is suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer's. Grandma Lenora is a sweet character, who keeps the laughs rolling with her comments and thoughts from the 50s, when she was the rising Hollywood star. And, Scott Murphy....oh lala! THAT is one Hollywood actor that is G-E-N-U-I-N-E! He's everything a man should be: witty, charming, thoughtful and most importantly, a man of faith. He helped Kat on many occasions understand that God is the ULTIMATE script writer and that it is up to Him to set the next scene.I don't want to give too much away! I think that if you love laughs, you love romance, you love a tad bit of mystery, then you should check out this first book, Stars Collide, in Thompson's newest series, Backstage Pass. It's 5 star worthy, high recommendations and laugh out loud entertainment! I am currently awaiting the release of book 2, which can't come soon enough for me. Well done, Janice!

This story was a delight to read, as are all of Janice's books. It was mild in the sense of reflecting the author's tender romantic style, but it was also a fun read, too. I loved the grandma. The author made a sad situation funny by putting a spin on it that makes the reader smile at the eccentricities and put them into perspective. The quotes from movies were fun and an entertaining aspect of the story as well. As is typical for Ms. Thompson, she interjects a powerful human need into every story. In this novel it was Kat's longing for a relationship with her father. While the emotional damage caused by his abandonment when she was only seven was heartbreaking to process with her, it was realistically portrayed. So was her adjusting to the idea that her grandmother's mind was slipping away. Stars Collide was a well rounded story in all aspects and I never got bored with the story or started skimming through the pages.

Sweet story! I enjoyed this sweet story and recommend that you read it. The characters are great and the author is confident in their writing so they didn't need to fill it with smut. Lovely, romantic story. esk 10/2016
