Sci-Fi with a heart and soul! Although I believe this book was written with young readers in mind, and perhaps specifically young women, I am a middle-aged man who thoroughly enjoyed it. It was recommended to me by a woman friend, and I found it very engaging. The protagonist, Dahliea, is the daughter of parents from two different planets with distinctly different cultures and physical markers. She suffers ridicule, isolation, and persecution, yet remains strong and determined while being put to many tests. Ms. Silk has nicely conceived of what life might be like on another planet in another time, but has also infused the story with feelings to which most of us can relate. I am eagerly looking forward to her next book.
