Overview

The sequel to the New York Times bestseller Skyward!

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Reckoners series, Words of Radiance, the Mistborn trilogy, and the Stormlight Archive comes the second book in an epic series about a girl with a secret in a dangerous world at war for humanity's future.

All her life, Spensa has dreamed of becoming a pilot. Of proving she's a hero like her father. She made it to the sky, but the truths she learned about her father were crushing. The rumors of his cowardice are true—he deserted his flight during battle against the Krell. Worse, though, he turned against his team and attacked them.

Spensa is sure there's more to the story. And she's sure that whatever happened to her father in his starship could happen to her. When she made it outside the protective shell of her planet, she heard the stars—and it was terrifying. Everything Spensa has been taught about her world is a lie.

But Spensa also discovered a few other things about herself—and she'll travel to the end of the galaxy to save humankind if she needs to.

I ordered this signed copy 2 weeks ago. After 1 week they cancelled my order saying it is not is stock. I look at the website today and you can still order the signed copy. I called the website and they said that it is not available. Looks like pretty poor business practice.

Excellent! Book #2 of this series is even better than the first book. I look forward to the next installment.

I stumbled upon the book "Skyward" and decided to read it because I'm a fan of Sanderson's books and it appeared to be a short, standalone read (when compared with his other series). Coincidentally I finished it the day after "Starsight" was released, and since I enjoyed the first one, immediately ordered this one for my nook. I ended up liking this one even better than the first! Plenty of action and character development, and I especially like some of the moral qualms he explores in this one. Spensa has grown up a lot since her time in "Skyward"! In "Starsight", Sanderson takes us away from Spensa's planet of Detritus and throws her--and us--right into enemy territory with surprising results. The one downside: it ends on a terrible cliffhanger. I'm not sure I can last until the third installment is published!

You can really feel Sanderson struggle to build a world that is as bizarre as possible while remaining consistent and believable. There is a weird blend of philosophy and action that makes your head spin, like riding a poco through a space hurricane.

When I first read the description of Skyward, I thought that a girl who wants to be a pilot didn't sound that interesting. Most of Sanderson's books that I have read tend to be more fantasy than science-fiction. But I was wrong. This is a real page-turner of a series and very entertaining. I bought Starsight the day it came out and finished it in the same day. Another great series from Brandon Sanderson and now I can't wait for book #3.
