Thirty years ago, trailblazing graffiti-legend Flux vanished.

Trinai isn't Flux. She's not a legend. But she's doing her best impression. On the thirtieth anniversary of Flux's disappearance, a citywide blackout interrupts her memorial painting and an anonymous squad takes her captive.

She doesn't know it, but elsewhere in the darkness a washed-up railgrinder determines to learn Trinai's secret; a journalist trapped in a lift faces her own icy demons; the leadership of the Fighter's Pride hangs on a single match, and an old member of Flux's Pride tries to dull the screaming of a ghost.

Caught in a new war on graffiti, Trinai must connect these threads to unravel Flux's unwritten past and finish what her hero began.

State of Flux is a high-energy, dystopian adventure recommended for readers 15 and up.

About the Author

Hi! I'm Rachael Stephen.
I'm a novelist. Mostly.
I'm also a youtuber, internet monkey, woodland hellbitch, and I know more about coffee than is healthy or advisable. I wrote my first novel while doing my degree in Philosophy.
...don't worry, no one else knows how to respond to that either.
I independently published my debut novel - partly because my savvy spans many different fields and partly because I'm a little bit of a control freak when it comes to my work.
I live in a hilariously rough part of Glasgow with my dog and my Ross.
These days, when I'm not writing, I work in coffee and social media, I make videos and digital thingies, and I eat an alarming amount of cake.

Some things you should know about me:
- If it's gold and I can wear it, I want it
- If it's copper, and I can shelve it, I want it
- My dog is called Elfie. She's a wee dick, but I love her.
- State of Flux (my first novel) was about trying to save the *world*
- North of the End (my current novel) is about trying to save *yourself*
