Statistical Power Analysis is a good reference for scientists who are trying to understand how to use power analysis to design experiments and interpret their data. It is aimed at social scientists (because the writers themselves are social scientists), but can be handy for other types of scientists as well (I am a biomedical engineer). The book itself could be much better written (the edition I had was riddled with horrible, horrible, horrible typos, misspellings, and grammatical errors¿much worse than this sentence). But if your main purpose is to better understand power analysis, I suppose grammatical errors can be ignored.
