Stay with Me by Kelsey Browning

"Kelsey Browning's Stay with Me is charming, emotional, and steamy. A must read!"
~ New York Times bestseller Melissa Foster

The Romance Reviews Top Pick! "...the chemistry between [Cal and Delaney] ignites when they're together. Like fire and water, the two created such steam that it was almost palpable."

Does heartbreak really make you stronger or does it simply make the heartbreaker impossible to resist the second time around?

After losing a love as big as Texas, he's moved on...

After ten years in the military, Cal Maddox knows exactly what he wants: a quiet life in his hometown, a little piece of land, and the love of a good woman. Nothing on that list describes Delaney Shields, the woman who once jilted him. Now, she's back in town, and with one kiss, their past attraction flames from teenage infatuation to full-fledged lust.

...but she's back, sexier and sassier than ever...

Delaney never expects to see her first love, but a run-in with sexy-as-sin Cal sets off her craving for a second chance at the passion they once shared. Acting on those naughty fantasies would be disastrous, because she's not the sticking kind, and Cal has roots a mile deep.

...and they're both hiding heart-breaking secrets.

When Delaney is backed into a corner, her first instinct is to bolt. But with every kiss, every touch, she finds herself falling for the man she once believed was her soul mate. Will Cal be able to seduce his way back into her heart, or will her secrets from the past tear them apart for good?

Loved this story and the whole Prophecy Boot legend behind it. What a quirky and lovable town and all the characters who live in it and make it the unique village it is. I want more. When I started reading A Love to Last by Kelsey Browning, I thought I would enjoy it. I've always loved everything Kelsey has written, but this book went above and beyond that. Right from the start, it felt like this book was the I needed to read my own prophecy was being fulfilled. Delaney and Cal (sigh...just saying their names makes my heart sigh!) are the perfect second chance love story. Laney has always been running. She's terrified of facing life with her heart and her emotions exposed. Cal spent some time running, too, but has come back home to help his father, Whit. Cal knows it's time to settle allow love into his heart again. But knowing it and allowing it are two separate things. I get all emotional trying to describe her perfectly written this book is. The characters could not have been any better. They were absolutely flawed, and absolutely perfect at the same time. I am so thrilled to have read this story, and to know that it is the first in a series. It was an honor to follow along with Laney and Cal. I really enjoyed the boot-making side of the story. I learned a lot and I think the prophecy aspect really kicked the story up a notch. A Love to Last by Kelsey Browning has everything you could ever want in a sexy, contemporary romance. My heart laughed...cried...and laughed again. This is one of those books that you finish and you feel right in your heart that you've just experienced something incredible - what loving reading is all about. I received an advance copy for review purposes, but was not required to write a positive review. This review contains my honest opinion of this book. Well done, Kelsey. Thank you for the chance to read such a beautiful story.

Wonderful story. Love the BOOTS! And now I can't wait for the next installment in the Prophecy of Love series from Kelsey Browning. This first book is about Delaney and Cal --they grew up in Prophecy, then left to search and grow and find themselves and of course both end up back in the small town--one of them wants to be there and one of them does not. But it is that same town that helps them both find what is missing in their lives. You know how a contemporary romance is supposed to work....the HEA part is a given.... but it is how well the author shares the story of how the characters get there that reels you in. Author Kelsey Browning can certainly tell a great tale and let's the characters evolve.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters. Cal and Delaney are such a wonderful couple if she will stop fighting what her future can be. Cal knows that there is only one woman for him and he has to figure out how to make her see that they belong together forever. It is a heartwarming, heartbreaking romantic read that I highly recommend. Great start to the Prophecy of Love series. Looking forward to the next story. I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.

I absolutely loved the prophecy boots. It's so cool to think your soul mate and you have a pair boots with your future intertwined on there. Like I said so cool! Now onto the characters. Loved Delaney, she's a lost soul trying to find where it feels like home. Too bad for her Prophecy has always felt like home, but she doesn't want to go back. Soon fate has worked its web and lures her back to Prophecy and Cal. There is a big responsibility waiting for her, but is she ready. The current prophecy bookmaker believes so. It's an awesome thing to see the journey she takes in this one to see her prophecy fulfilled. There are funny moments, the other characters are very interesting. There are sad moments when a few tears are shed. Then you have your passion between Cal and Delaney. It is a great kick off to Kelsey's new series.

Delaney Shields is a free spirit who likes to stay on the move, explore what the world has to offer, and has yet to find the perfect place to put down roots. She is about to expand her horizons even more and travel to a few countries on her bucket list, when she receives word from home that a family friend is ill, so she decides to make a pit stop in her hometown of Prophecy. She figures she'll give herself a day to check in on him, and then she'll move onto her next adventure, but upon her arrival she runs smack dab into the man she left behind when she fled Prophecy all those years ago. And he wants answers, answers that she isn't ready to give... Cal Maddox has hung up his fatigues and returned home from his stint in the military to find his father in poor health and the livelihood of his hometown slowly dwindling away. It's time his father retire, but the only way that he can do that is find someone to take over his boot shop, and it can't be just anyone who takes the job, they must have a special gift for boot making. The only one his father trusts to take over the shop has been long gone from Prophecy for the last ten years, and when she left she took Cal's heart along with her. As if sensing that her presence is needed she waltzes through the door of the boot shop looking even more beautiful than she did all those years ago, which has Cal ready to do whatever it takes to convince her to stay and finally put down some roots... This story was a refreshing change of pace for me and so unlike anything else I have read in quite a while. It had everything a good second chance romance story should have and then some, and I think it is safe to say Ms. Browning has a hit on her hands with this one!! I cannot wait to make a return visit to the series and see what she has in store for the residents of Prophecy next! I highly recommend you give this story a try, it's sure to warm your heart and leave you with a smile on your face!! ARC provided in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

Great Book! This is a great book; this is the first book in the Prophecy of Love Book series by Kelsey Browning. Delaney Shields is a drifter, she plans to breeze through Prophecy, Texas and never expected to run into Cal Maddox, the man she ran out on a decade ago. Cal Maddox left the military and moved back home to help his dad and his hometown. When Cal sees Delaney all of those emotions he felt for her are still there. He soon realizes that she is the next Prophecy boot maker, the only person who can design custom cowboy boots with the power to change a person’s destiny. If you are looking for a great romance that will keep you reading way past your bedtime then you need to read this book. I can’t wait until the next book in this series comes out. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

A Love To Last by Kelsey Browning is a kick in the pants. I absolutely loved this book from page one all the way through the last page. Kelsey had me in tears laughing at times with the quirkiness of some characters. The characters are so likeable, I fell in love with Cal and Delaney. Way to go Kelsey...with this start of a new series, so excited for the next book. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun fast read. I was given an ARC of this book, for my honest review.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I really don't give many books five stars. I think those should be reserved for classics or something along the line of the Outlander series. However, this book was just different enough to poke and prod me into five stars. This book had so much to it! Of course it had romance and sex (yeah!). It also had lies and guilt, hopes and dreams, awesome baking (could I get one of those cinnamon rolls, please?),old people and babies, homebodies and world travelers. and to top it all off...a few mystical vibes. Mystical vibes? I don't know what else to call a pair of handmade boots that predict a person's best possible future. I absolutely loved the two main characters, Delaney and Cal.The secondary characters were quite eccentric and laugh out loud hilarious! I don't often re-read, but I'll be reading this one again very soon. Well done, Ms. Browning. Well done!

Kelsey Browning continues to display that she's got the goods when it comes to writing about Texans. A Love to Last is the perfect portrayal of a modern, Texas themed romance. From the imagery, to her familiarity with the "lingo" and lifestyles, her stories are brimming with that special something that you find in Texas! In A Love to Last, Kelsey Browning establishes the foundation for her new Prophecy of Love series. She did so with a quirky cast of characters (Addie Bostick, I sure hope we learn more about you!) that perfectly represent the residents of so many Texas towns. Add in a little bit of "magic" in the form of cowboy boot prophecies, and I was hooked! Second chance romance, Texas humor, a hero that has only ever wanted to settle down with the girl of his dreams, a great cast of characters (Texas being one of them!), and a story that packed one heck of an emotional punch made this one of my favorite books of the year! Oh, and I can't forget the festival. I've been to so many throughout the Hill Country, and I loved that Kelsey created one that was so inclusive! Brilliantly done! My favorite lines: "Your life, your love, your prophecy." "Maybe where you belong is less about the location itself and more about how you feel about yourself when you're there." I have no idea how many books there will be in this series, but I can tell you that if they're written in the same Texas style, I will want to read them all!

Kelsey Browning worked her magic with this book. I loved it! It had everything I love about small towns. The town is charming and full of fun places and intriguing secrets. The town of Prophecy is even better than most small towns because Browning mixed it up a bit by adding just the slightest touch of magic. It kicked this book up to the next level. As if the art of boot making isn't amazing enough, in Prophecy, the boot maker also helps shape people's destinies. Delaney doesn't want anything to do with the place, but it's survival is resting on her shoulders. Cal is determined to get her to stay. The emotions in this book that fly between these two were constant ups and downs, and they held my attention the entire time. I enjoyed every second of getting to know Delaney and Cal. They were complex and learning their secrets was captivating, plus their scorching hot chemistry wasn't bad either. Kelsey Browning did a phenomenal job bringing these characters, and especially their strong emotions to life. I may not be lucky enough to have a pair of boots from Prophecy to determine my fate, but I do know that I hope to see more of this town, and it's awesome people in my future. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Delaney left Prophecy, Texas and has been moving from place to place trying to find a place to belong. Now she is on her way back to Prophecy because Whit, who was more like a father to her than her own, is sick. Raylene, her Aunt, is thrilled to have her back for however long she is staying. Delaney also left Cal, Whit's son, the man she loved because she did not think that she was the sticking kind. Her parents had totally ignored her because they were to involved in their own drama. Now, Whit wants Delaney to be the next Prophecy book maker. The boots made by the PBM(Prophecy Boot Maker) are drawn from a vision when the child is a young baby. Parents believe the child will have a better life withe the boots. Delaney is not sure she is the right person to be the next PBM and save the town. Cal and Delaney reconnect and everything is going good until Delaney goes into the store and finds Whit dead. Kelsey Browning writes about second chances and believing in yourself. These are lessons that both Delaney and Cal needed to learn Everyone needs to see their own potential and believe in their ability to achieve that potential. I liked this book, the town she created and the people in it. This is a great start to the Prophecy of Love series, and I cannot wait for the next book!

This is the first book in the Prophecy Series from Kelsey Browning. Different from this author's other books, this is a contemporary romance with just that tiny bit of believable magic. Set in Texas, with all that Texas state of mind that a reader will love but there is no saving the ranch here. Cal Maddox needs and wants to save his family business and the home town he loves. Delaney returns to Prophecy to see Cal's father, she owes it to him. Whit Maddox has always been kind to her, gave her guidance and hope. But is it enough to make her stay. Delaney is hell bent to get out of town and Cal needs her to stay. Kelsey Browning weaves the magic and keeps the reader entranced in the story! I can't wait to read more in this Series!! I was given an ARC for a honest review

I received this book in return for my honest review. Honestly I tried not to like this book, being that it was given to me I tried to judge it more harshly that I usually do. I really, really tried. But I failed. I was totally sucked in within the first couple pages. The characters were likable, sexy, and best of all, actually able to be related to. To be honest I'm not one for magic in my real life-y romance stories. But it was conveyed in a really sweet and pretty believable way. And now I desperately want a pair of prophecy boots myself. This is a steamy book, so if you don't like your characters to progress further than some hand holding you aren't going to be too pleased, but if you love yourself some passion with your romance, go! Go read this book, do it now. Stop reading this review and get the book. Being a TX resident it was so fun hearing mention of places I actually know and visit (also, Johnson City has a fantastic Winery (Texas Hills Winery omg yum) if you go to TX and like wine, go and drink!)

A Love to Last is the first book in what promises to be a great new series. Set in small town Prophecy, Texas it's filled with fun, quirky characters all of which are counting on the new Prophecy bootmaker to help save the town. Delaney Shields is back in Prophecy for a quick visit with Whit Maddox then she's on her way to an around the world trip she's been planning forever. The last person she wants to see is Cal Maddox, Whit's son and the only man who has owned her heart. Cal's roots are deep in Texas soil though and no way can Delaney stay in one place for long. When Whit implies that Delaney is the next Prophecy bootmaker, all she can think about is getting out of town. NOW! A sense of duty and a strong desire for Cal has her sticking around for a while. But for how long??? This is a fantastic small town romance with just a bit of magic tossed in! Great writing and characters make this one you want to read. I highly recommend it.

I'm hooked! This is Book 1 in the Prophecy of Love series, and I already can't wait to read more. Great job of weaving a small town chemistry that makes us fall in love with the thought of what has been, and what's yet to come. I laughed, I cried, and I wished for the fairy tale kind of love that burns even through years of separation. Great read! Cal Maddox walks into his dad's boot shop and sees the one woman he has never forgotten. Delaney Shields is only stopping through Prophecy, TX for a quick check on Whit Maddox and never expected to see Cal. Last she heard, he was traveling the world in the military. He had no clue his dad had kept in such close contact with Delaney all these years. Whit is determined to get Delaney to stay in town and take over his boot shop for him. He told her years ago that she was the next Prophecy bootmaker, and if she won't stay, the magic ends and the town falls apart. Delaney doesn't want to admit that she can see the boots in her mind. If she does, then she's locked into settling down, and as she proved when she walked out on Cal all those years ago, she's not the staying kind. Will she and Cal admit they still love each other or will she ride off into the sunset again? Can she ever believe that she's worth being loved after the past she's had and let herself actually be happy?

What a great start to this new series! Such an original idea full of angst and humor, fear and heartache. Couldnt put it down! After her experiences growing up, Delaney doesn't think she'll ever find a place to fit in. Until she moves in with her aunt Raylene in the town of Prophecy. But as a teenager, she is afraid of the feelings she has for Cal and pushes him away and takes off. Knowing that is the only way she will ever be. Cal's father is the famed Prophecy Boot Maker and theegent behind the boots is what draws the people in. When he meets Delaney as a teenager, they fall in love and she breaks his heart.  Now she's back after years when his father becomes sick. Afraid of his wanting to train her to be the next bootmaker she only plans to stay a few days. But Cal has other plans. Wanting nothing more than another chance to show her she can stick and not be like her mother, he plans an all out assault to show her who she can be.  Will she accept her future as the new boot maker and the responsibility that comes with it, or will her track record stand and off she goes? And will she begin to believe that she can be the woman Cal needs and the family that he wants?

I could not put this book down…nope…had to finish it even though I knew it would keep me up past my bedtime. I have read and enjoyed other books written by this author but this series has a bit of “magic” that I responded whole heartedly to! Delaney Shields is a woman that has been to just about every state in the USA and has plans to take on a round the world in 80 days trip to visit the rest of the world but before she starts her trip she stops in Prophecy, Texas to find out how someone is doing who was more like a father to her than her own ever was – and he is not doing well. In fact, the entire town is not doing well. Delaney also runs into the man she left behind ten years ago, Cal Maddox, and there is still chemistry. Her need to run and his need to put down roots, the needs of the town versus those of Delaney, whether or not Delaney has the ability that the current Prophecy Boot Maker believes she has, and past baggage of both Delaney and Cal must be dealt with before a happily ever after can occur. I loved this book and highly recommend it! I also thank the author for the copy of this book to read and review – I do believe it is the best one yet!
