This book is the "Go-To" book for anyone interested in staying healthy, becoming healthier, and teaching their family how to be healthier. It is LARGE, and full of information on too many subjects to list here. The first half comprises of relatively short chapters, each one a detailed, footnoted essay on a specific vitamin, mineral, or nutraceutical. This first half of the book is one of the greatest reference books on health and nutrition that I've ever seen, and I've read a lot of books on health! The second half is more reader-friendly and explains the author's idea of a well-balanced diet. It not only includes menu ideas, and the reasons behind his ideas, but also a large section that is for the most part a cook book, filled with favorite recipes and cooking/shopping tips. I keep going back to this book whenever I have a question, and it is so easy to look up the answer. I strongly recommend this book.
