I love books about time travel and the premise of the book appeared promising. It was written without much description. Perhaps I'm used to reading novels that try to immerse you into the story. Don't get me wrong, I don't like a lot of detail; however, there was hardly ANY details. Within the first 20 pages I'm not given any idea of who the protagonist was as a person. She was taking a break and she talked to an older gentleman, she got a headache, and then all of a sudden she's whisked into the past. She's also someone else. It hardly seemed to disorient her. Just odd. Also, the language used by the characters from the past seemed very forced and pretentious. They spoke relatively modern English but threw in words like 'mayhap'. Just bizarre. After 20 pages I kept thinking about how it should have been written versus actually reading the story. I just couldn't get past the amateur feel of it. I've read YA books that were better written.
