Seventeen-year-old Stetson has two goals: finish rebuilding an old Honda Civic (even though his father doesn’t think Stet’s capable of finishing anything) and graduate from high school (even though all his friends have already dropped out to go work at the mill). Remember when you were seven and you didn't get what you wanted for Chrismas? In the book Stetson written by S. L. Rottman that is exactly happens. For the rest of his life he seams to be effected by not getting that bike. Because of that he got a great job that only a die hard would do. I only gave this book a three because it didn't give detail about the things you wanted the author to go in to detail with. I would recommend this book to any teenager that doesn't like to read books because the author makes a clear statement that if you start to drink now, when you are a teen there will be no way to end your addiction in the long run. When Stetson was about seen years old he wanted a bike to ride around on ,well he didn't get a bike he had to go out and get a job fixing bikes for a local junk yard and in return Stetson got a job and a bike. Because of that he got a job working at the junk yard all of his life, so far. I can connect with this because my Dad use to work at a junk yard , and he brought home some awesome stuff. Stetson got a bike that he was praying to god that no one was going to buy. Stetson's Dad got a phone call saying that his daughter was coming to live with him. He had no clue that he even had daughter and, Stetson had no clue he had had a sister all this time he never even met his Mom, how sad would that be to never meet your own mom. When his sister arrived at there house she was all polite but little did they know that , later on she started to show her real self. Stetson use to drink but ever after his encounter with death he never drank again. I felt that I could make a lot of connections with this book. If I could get a job like that I would be in heave because I love to tinker with odds and ends. Stetson him self used the STAR which is used to decide choices. He Stoped what he was doing, Thought about what his choices, Acted out his thought, and lastly, he Review his Actions that is what we call STAR. The author did a good job keeping a non reader interested in reading this book.

Stetson is a great book for someone that likes real life action and trouble. Stetson is a 17 year old male that has had a troubled life with family and school. but its not like those books were everything is sad and depressing. It's attention getting and has more of a light tone to the setting as you will see with Stetson as he works and fixes up his car.

Stetson is by far one of my favorite books so far. At first glance it doesn¿t seem like much but once you get into it is impossible to stop. The book takes place in the late 1900s. Stetson is about a 17 year old boy (Stetson) who has an abusive, alcoholic father that doesn¿t care much about Stet. Unless you count that Stet buys the food in the house. Stet is basically on his own, he buys his food, cloths, and whatever else he needs. Stet doesn¿t have much to look forward to at home so he passes the time by working at an old salvage yard with his boss, Jason. When he isn¿t at the yard he is working on his dream car, an old 1980 Honda Civic that Stet has been working on for 2 years! Then one day he comes home to work on his car when he sees a strange girl on his couch. She is Kayla, the 14 year old sister he never knew he had. Turns out their mother died and Kayla has nowhere else to go. Now the two must work together to avoid their father, finish stets dream car, and find a way out of the factory town they so highly dislike. They accomplish all these goals and move to Kansas wit their aunt Caroline. I really enjoyed this book and anyone can. I recommend this book to whoever wants to read it, especially if they like cars.

Stetson is one of my favorite books so far. When i first picked it up it didn't look very interesting but once I read a little I got pulled into it. Stetson is about a 17 year old boy' named stetson' who has an abusive, alcoholic father. His father may pay rent but it is stet's job to cloth and feed himself, basicly he is on his own. The only two things he looks forward to in life are going to work at a salvage yard with his boss, Jason. Then he works on an old 1980 Honda Civic that he has been bulding for two years! Then one day Stet comes home from an average day of school and an average afternoon of work to find a girl sitting on his couch. The girl is Kayla, the sister Stet never knew he had. Now the two must work together to avoid their abusive father and finish building Stetson's dream car. I realy enjoyed this book, it has drama, suspense, hate, love, and everything flows neatly. I recomend this book to just about anyone, especialy if you like cars.

The book I read is Stetson. Is a really good book. This book is about stet, and how he has been working in a scrap yard. Has been working on an old Honda civic. Stets dad is an alcoholic. His mother left when stet was only three years old. Now Stet is a senor in high school and he just about to get kicked out of school, but he wanted his diploma. When Stet mom left she was pregnant and know Kayla the baby is know fourteen years old and has to move in with stet an there alcoholic father because she has no were else to go. I like just about everything in this book. In the beginning you well get a feeling just how much trouble stet will get into just for a few dollars. I think the reason why the end is so bad because you get so attached to the characters and the end just leaves you hanging. This book is not in a series. You don¿t have to read any other book to get this book. I don¿t really read a lot of books but I liked this book. This book doesn¿t really remind me of any thing I have ever seen or read before. The only thing this book reminds me is my life a little bit.

I have to say, this book is pretty amazing. The story was exciting, on how Stet might not be able to graduate, and at the same time, tragic, about Jason, and Kayla. It's filled with a few happy moments. Stetson is a book about friendship, family, education, and perseverance.

If you like books about cars you'l like this one. I like how he supports his sister even though he is going through a rough time. He also sets himself a goal to graduate. That is great. I recomend it to all my friends. It is a great book.

I am currently reading this book for a school book report, and i think it is great so far. The fact that he works at a ' legal chop shop' adds alot of interest. The car and his graduation keep him on track throughout the book. His job also keeps him very occupied. This book is one of those you never want to put down. The closer you get to the end the harder it is to put down. The only problem i have with it is that it isnt very long. But other than that its great! I would like to find more books by this author, hoping he has more books of this style.

Once in awhile your favorite books can be the ones with the most ugly covers. That's how it went for me with 'Stetson'. This is my favorite book of all time. (I'm not trying to suck up when I say that either) I can honestly say this book changed my life because I learned that you can't always have life pamper you. And that you cant judge a person by how they look, what you hear about them, and most importantly...how they act to YOU!. In the end of this I started sheading a tear. This book is only book that has ever made me do that.

This is my all time favorite book. If anyone ever asked me 'Whats your favorite book' with hesitating and stop to think I would say Stetson By: S.L Rottman. It's about this guy in highschool living in a small town. His mother left his family when he was only a baby leaving his father to take care of him. His dad's not exactly your perfect 'Father Figure' because he gets drunk every night and says crude things to Stet. Well one day he comes home and finds out he has a sister. Stets mother had her a few years after she left his family. At first Kayla (the new sister) wants to leave and live with her aunt. But the more she stays at this 'boaring place' as she calls it, the more she begins to form a friendship with Stetson and the two of them begin to understand each other and their family more.
