Stevie Nicks: Visions, Dreams & Rumors by Zoe Howe

The New biography of “the Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll” (Rolling Stone)
Lyrical visionary, enduring style icon, and one indispensable fifth of post-Peter Green megaband Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks is one of the most recognizable figures in rock ’n’ roll history—very much Fleetwood Mac’s “Queen Bee,” as Mick Fleetwood himself described her. With gold and quadruple platinum solo albums under her beaded belt, Stevie Nicks has enjoyed the ultimate in rock ‘n’ roll success as a recording artist—but this charmed life has come as a result of hard graft, self-belief, and a devotion to creativity above all; hers has been a journey of intense highs and lows.
This new biography, a celebration of the Stevie Nicks phenomenon, takes us on her journey from peripatetic Midwest childhood to her explosion onto the music scene as chiffon-swathed rock goddess, right up to present day. Including exclusive interviews with some of Stevie’s associates and collaborators from over the years, author Zoë Howe explores the mystique while retaining the magic of this modern-day musical sorceress and wise woman of rock.

I knew I should have not wasted my money on this book but what can I say? When you are standing in Barnes and Noble and just glancing through it, the book looks good. Unfortunately, I found it to be very dry reading. I do agree with the review written on March 13, 2015, that it is an introduction but the writer is not gifted putting previously published information together in an interesting manner. I would love to see Stevie Nicks write her own book. It is time. I feel if she does not, there will be more and more of this type of book out there and Stevie's truth will never be know. What a shame that would be. I just finished Mick Fleetwood's book before reading this one. I recommend it. I honestly can't recommend this.

This is a good introduction to those wanting to know more about Rock Goddess Stevie Nicks. It is well written though the information is taken from sources you can find elsewhere. For long-time fans of Ms Nicks there is nothing new here but for those who are curious about her life and music and don't know much about her place in music history, it's a good entry to what Stevie Nicks is all about.
