The story of a forbidden love forged in the heat of battle, a war hero haunted by PTSD, and the Dominatrix who won't admit her love for him,
yet can't live without him kneeling at her side.

Dr. Michelle Sapphire and Gunnery Sergeant Wyatt Callahan formed an unbreakable bond and an unacknowledged, forbidden attraction to each other while serving together in Afghanistan. Their lives are forever changed when a mortar attack grievously wounds Wyatt and Michelle brings him back from the brink of death. But when they both return to the civilian world, Michelle discovers that her rock-solid Marine is suffering from severe PTSD and may even be suicidal.

Wyatt Callahan fell hard for the aristocratic blonde doctor the moment he laid eyes on her. After reentering civilian life in his hometown near Austin, Texas, Wyatt is plagued by nightmares of the death and suffering he witnessed during the war. He'd love to reach out to Michelle, but Michelle is a Dominatrix, and she has made it very clear to Wyatt she isn't interested in a relationship with anyone who doesn't accept her lifestyle. An Alpha male to the core, he can't imagine the appeal of being submissive. At the same time, the idea of serving Michelle, of being everything she wants and needs, rings true in his wounded soul.

Michelle has dark secrets of her own, and together with Wyatt she will have to battle her personal demons during their emotional journey of healing, redemption, and love.

About the Author

With over thirty published books, Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened.

From a young age she's been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that often was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and hopes to one day be able to use the bathroom without interruption from a kid, cat, or dog.

Ann loves to talk with her fans, as long as they realize she's weird and that sarcasm doesn't translate well via text.

I will be the first to admit that this was not a book that jumped immediately to my TBR.  It had a Domme and I like Doms.  It dealt with some serious issues and I like the happy.  Then I had a friend tell me I HAD to read it.  Another told me that I would love it and that Wyatt was super Alpha and there was no man hating.  Another told me that it was uplifting and not depressing.  Finally, someone told me to just give it four chapters, so I did, but those four chapters became the whole book in one night.  The morning was rough from lack of sleep, but it was so worth it.  Everything I had heard was true and more.  If you break down this story, it really is just a wonderful love story of two people broken by different things in their life who reconnect after having served together in war.  Yes, the subject matter is not easy.  There is nothing light and fluffy about PTSD.  That being said, Ann did her research and dealt with it in a very honest way.  She also did not hold back on the personal connections between Wyatt and Michelle, including the heat.  I am really glad I gave this story a read.

Beautiful, heart-wrenching story of ptsd and learning to trusting yourself and others again, learning to love. Anticipating the book 2:):)

Almost a great story. Loved Wyatt, and Yuki. Michelle was weak and inconsistent. If she had been better written, it would have been 5 stars. She started strong, but lost her footing after Wyatt moved in. Lots of misssed opportunities. That aside, the story of ptsd and coping is meaningful. I recommend the book.

I bought this book on my NOOK after it kept getting recommended to me. It was just ok. The long tease process was good. I think it was timely regarding how a romance can bud under varying circustances. However, by the end of the book I was left in a ho-hum attitude. If you do like this type of writing, there is a sequel coming which you get to read the beginning at the end of this book.

Not a book I would usually read I'm not into female Doms but this was so good. They needed each other so much. Their relationship was very interesting. I understand a little more about PTSD too.I would recomend it to anyone.

Still, the first book of the Long Slow Tease series, is an emotionally charged BDSM romance. Ann Mayburn entertains with her well-drawn main characters, Michelle Sapphire and Wyatt Callahan. Wyatt, a former marine, suffers from PTSD and is really in bad shape when he finally reaches out to Michelle for help in slaying his demons. The question becomes is he man enough to do so what Michelle requires from him? Michelle wants Wyatt to become her submissive. Wyatt, realizing he wants Michelle so badly, accepts her terms even though he is a sexy alpha male. Wyatt struggles with letting Michelle take control and finding peace in that role, making him an endearing character. Michelle, a Domme, has been attracted to Wyatt from afar ever since they met when serving together in the military. Michelle, who is suffering from survivor’s guilt after witnessing the murder of her fiancé, feels vulnerable when she realizes she has fallen in love with Wyatt. Michelle’s need to be the dominant in her relationships and her emotional vulnerabilities, believing she is betraying her fiancé’s memory, make her a complex and compelling character. The chemistry between Michelle and Wyatt sizzles as Michelle teaches Wyatt about this new lifestyle. The various intimate BDSM scenes between Michelle and Wyatt are unique, impassioned, and scorching hot! Still is a satisfying smooth-moving story that leads to a beautiful happy-for-now ending, leaving you anxious to see where the relationship will go in the next novel. I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of an honest review for The Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

As posted on The Smutty Kitty 5 out of 5 Licks I really just want to say...Just go buy this book and read it right now!!! But for my kittens I will say more. This is not the first time I have read a book with a FemDom, but it is one of the best I've read-period! You are all aware by now that it doesn't take much to cry but I was literally crying while reading the dedication! The dedication people! I grew up outside of a military base and I have insane amounts of respect for everyone who chooses to serve our country that way. For me it is simple-you offer up your life for my freedom=my forever gratitude and respect. The story between Michelle and Wyatt is so incredibly emotional that I was mentally all in by the first page. Ann does an amazing job making you feel pain and emotional damage each of the characters suffer from. Once I started reading I couldn't stop. I so desperately yearned for the two of them to be happy. And seeing the two of them start to grow and deepen their connection was so heart warming. There is no immediate fix for either Michelle or Wyatt. Their story is communicated in a very true to life manner. Life isn't pretty and things don't fix themselves in 24 hours with some good (sometimes amazing) sex and pillow talk. In fact they only have sex once in this book-but trust me the build up is soooooo worth it. I have one minor tiff (I can't even call it a complaint) with this book...the story isn't finished yet!!!! The end of book one is really only the beginning. I finished and immediately wanted more!! You will all hate me for this but I know the rest of the story already. I was lucky enough to be able to room with Ann at RT this year and basically threatened to hurt her while she slept if I didn't get the rest of their story. Even knowing what's coming isn't enough. I can't wait for the next book to be released so I can read more of the connection between these two. Michelle and Wyatt will forever hold a place in my heart. You can't read this book without becoming emotionally attached to them. The BDSM elements were relatively light (compared to some I've read). There is mild knife play, but I assure you there is no cutting (that isn't how knife play tends to work). It's just crazy sexy hottness!!! Ok enough of my gushing over this book. Click one of these links below and buy it!! You won't regret it and you will need to be prepared to stay up all night if you must to finish it!

I haven't read a lot of FemDoms books but I love everything Ann Mayburn writes, so I gave it a go. I'm glad I did.  Michelle and Wyatt are both a little hurt from the world. Wyatt has PTSD from Afghanistan and Michelle is still dealing with some past issues. When they come together and Wyatt submits to her sexually, the sex is off the charts hot!! There is something about a sexy Alpha male submitting and worshiping his woman does it for me. This is a beautiful love story with lots of yummy kink. Even with the occasional bump in the road they end up falling in love. I would gladly visit them again.  Pick it up, give it a try, it's worth it!

Wyatt had got out of the military about a year ago. Michelle Sapphire had been called to basil Wyatt out of jail, she had just done a twelve hour shift at the clinic and then called out of bed for Wyatt. Was drunk and Michelle was mad. Michelle was a doctor who had been very attracted to Wyatt when in the service and the time apart did not dampen the attraction but he had been an officer and he had not been one. The cop talking to Michelle was Gary Wyatt’s brother in law and told Michelle the family had done everything they could think of to do to get Wyatt through his PTSD. Gary also told Michelle Wyatt was lucky if he got four hour of sleep a night and Wyatt was exhausted. Michelle told Gary she would have Wyatt stay with her a month for personal rehab. Michelle remembered Wyatt as someone she could rely on, her rock , but now he just seemed lost. A flashback for Michelle as they walked down the hall with Wyatt behind her was when Wyatt had shadowed Michelle in Afghanistan always watching her back.Tonight Wyatt had been drunk at the cemetery with a large knife sitting at his best friend Aaron Winter’s grave who had committed suicide when he could not deal with his PTSD. I really loved this story even if they tied BDSM lifestyle into it but very tastefully. Great writing. But this story showed a strong man suffering deeply from PTSD then with his friend not making it ….It shows his triggers and how he felt and acted when he had panic attacks with a lot of detail. You felt like you were right there with Wyatt. It was the story that gripped your interest as well as your heart for these people who fight to keep us all free. The characters were phenomenal especially Wyatt and Michelle. To know Michelle had her own demons to fight through only added to the story. The twists and turns Wyatt and Michelle went through kept you to the story until the last page a bit of a cliffhanger but doable leading into another story. I highly recommend. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

Loved that the alpha male was able to submit

**BDSM Contemporary Romance w/ FemDom elements **Heat Level: Call a priest ahead of time to schedule a confession after reading. Holy moly! This is an intense and sexy read. I quickly became invested in these two characters. They seemed very real to me. Wyatt Callahan proves that an alpha male can submit to the right woman. He needs it to be with Michelle and to help with his PTSD. Michelle needs the control but is afraid of giving her heart away only to lose it. This is a complex and moving story. Still is the first of a two book story. I am off to read Penance (Long Slow Tease #2) the conclusion to this story.

While serving in Afghanistan together Michelle a Doctor and Wyatt as Sergeant form a connection and are attracted to each other as well, but when Wyatt almost dies in an explosion and they go back to the civilian world Michelle realizes Wyatt is suffering from PTSD. Will submitting to Michelle help heal them both from their pain. Very emotional story, I l liked the characters and the sex is steamy. I liked it.

This was my first audio book and I have found a new way to enjoy my books. I love the female dominant role with a male submissive. Michelle and Wyatt's beginning was a wonderful story. I can't wait to hear/read book 2.

A MUST READ!!!!! A few months back, I read a snip of an untitled work in Process, the story fascinated me and as with any good snip bit, it cut off at just the right moment to leave you hanging… Success …. They hooked me. Over the next few months I kept thinking about what I had read… Dr. Michelle Sapphire has been called to the police station, in Austin Texas, to bail out Gunnery Sargent Wyatt Callahan. They had served together the year before, in Afghanistan, where they formed a special bond, that they could never act on being that Michelle was an officer and Wyatt an enlisted soldier. Both have seen their share of combat and the distressing effects, both physical and emotional. Michelle and Wyatt were strong Dominant characters. Yet Michelle was a Domme and craved Wyatt’s submission. I needed to know how this was going to play out. I had to read “STILL” by Ann Mayburn… Wyatt’s transition into the civilian world hasn’t been a smooth one, for he struggles with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and in the opening of Still, Wyatt was found drunk, sitting on the grave of his best friend and fellow soldier, also suffering from PTSD, who had killed himself after returning from Afghan. Seeing Wyatt struggling makes Michelle long to help Wyatt and offers him a deal…. Come live with her for one month as her submissive. Hang on to your seat, this is where the emotional rollercoaster starts…. Ann Mayburn addresses the very real issue of PTSD and the devastating effects it can have on not only the soldier, but their family as well. PTSD comes in many different shapes and sizes, it varies from person to person, manifesting differently in everyone. But the results are almost always the same if left untreated, major destruction. I applaud the fact that at the end of the book, Ms. Mayburn has listed resources for people to contact. She took a very difficult subject matter and weaves it into a beautiful love story. I was surprised that while Wyatt struggled with his desire to serve and please Michelle, he never lost his dominant personality. He was Alpha to the core! The author, in my opinion did an excellent job in blending the two polar opposite personality traits. It certainly helped that the chemistry between these two was smoking to say the least. Some of the scenes were so intense they had me wiggling in my seat. I can honestly say some where so creative; I’ve never read anything like them before. Michelle was a Domme with every ounce of her being, full of compassion and love. She constantly put her issues on the back burner in her quest to help Wyatt, till the tables were turned and she had to face some of her own demons. It was great to see two people struggling together to achieve the same goal, to build a strong, healthy, loving relationship with each other, while being open and honest. Let me said that I normally don’t read Domme books, I like my Alpha/Dominant Male way too much. Yet, “Still” captivated me from the moment I started reading, all the pieces fit perfectly in place, for the story to flow ever so smoothly. You can’t help but fall in love with Michelle and Wyatt as you follow them on their journey of self-discovery and submission. Whether you’re a Fem-Dom reader who loves a good story about a strong Alpha male giving his gift of submission or a fan of the Dominant Male whose only desire is to please his woman, Still by Ann Mayburn is a must read.
