As an Air Force medic, Bree Marks saw the worst the War on Terror had to dish out. Now a physical therapist, she uses her experience to help other veterans heal from their physical wounds; while she battles her own emotional damage.

Blaming himself for his best friend’s suicide, former Army Ranger Jase Larken, retreated from life. To honor his best friend’s memory and assuage his guilt, he started an outdoor adventure company to help veterans with PTSD.

Bree had better things to do than catch her cheating fiancé in bed with another woman. Jase is something better - for a night at least. For the first time in years, Jase wanted more. When he finds her again, he doesn’t give her another chance to run.

Jase’s possessiveness grates on Bree’s independent nature. She’s dealt with her fair share of alpha-male, door kickers and doesn’t need one telling her what to do now. But as a new danger emerges, Bree and Jase must face their pasts, before someone's obsession with Bree destroys any chance they have of a future.

About the Author

Tarina has spent the last 21-plus years in the Air Force trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. Currently stationed in Washington DC, she will soon be packing up her twin heathens (i.e. 4-year-olds) and moving to the Middle East for a 2-year assignment. As a single mom, her favorite pastimes include repeating the word 'no', the phrase 'not right now', and napping. Oh, and writing in her "spare" time.

Having never lived in one place for more than four years, her roots aren't deep, but the friendships she's formed over the years are.

Verbal contact is not recommended before her first cup of coffee in the morning, but feel free to stalk her on social media.

The troubles of our Veterans are mainly ignored due to not understanding what it's like to be in the front line under fire. It's so sad when people disparage them. This book shows some of it in the best way to understand besides having romance and thrills. Very well presented.

Would have been a good book except for the pornographic descriptions of the sex they had. I don't understand why an author feels they have to add this to make a story good. Won't be reading anymore books by this author.

This book was a freebie, and since I had never read anything from this author, I gave it a try. Good choice. Loads of heat, murder and mayhem, and a great ending. Went back and bought more of this author's books.

Wow! Stitched Up Heart is my first book by Tarina Deaton but it won't be my last. Ms. Deaton has delivered a well-written book loaded with phenomenal characters. Kudos to Ms. Deaton on her character interaction and was perfect. Bree is a veteran and now a physical therapist. After finding her fiance in her bed with another woman, Bree and her best friend went out for drinks, where she met Jase. Jase owns V.E.T. Adventures and is also a veteran. When dead women start being found with notes to Bree with them things get a little crazy. I totally loved every page of this book and can't wait to read more from this new to me author. Stitched Up Heart is book 1 of the Combat Hearts Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Loved it

Pleasantly surprised by this book. There is a plethora of steam, but there is also a story line. The characters are believable, they come back from service trying to fit in and deal with their personal demons. Although, the book title is questionable. Good read.

Really enjoyed reading this book. Had a little bit of everything. Passion, mystery, and the sensitivity dealing with a tough subject matter just as ptsd and the aftermath from serving in the military and going to war.

Delightful Surprise!!! This story was a delightful surprise. I found myself immediately connecting with the story and characters and I knew after reading a few pages, I was going to enjoy this wonderfully written story. It has everything I love in a good book; a lot of chemistry between the characters, suspense, a sexy, protective alpha male, a strong, feisty heroine, an engaging story and interesting secondary characters. Bree Marks is a physical therapist working with veterans and Jase Larken runs V. E. T. Adventures, an outdoor adventures company for veterans. Jase and Avery have both served in the military, although they were in different branches, Avery was in the medical unit in the Air Force and Jase was an Army Ranger. They both have scars from their tours in the Middle East and want to help other returning veterans who are having a tough time acclimating after their tours of duty. When Jase and Bree meet they instantly hit it off and there are a lot of sparks flowing between them. Bree is hesitant to get involved with Jase but once he meets her, he is a man on a mission and won't allow Bree to back off. I really liked these two together and their their verbal dialogue and teasing attitude. I fell in love with Jase along with Bree. He is a sexy, dirty talking guy and he made this story irresistible. He is a confident, demanding, protective alpha male and always attentive to Bree and never interested in any other women. Bree has many qualities I admire, she is smart, feminine and tough. She knows how to take care of herself and she has guns and knows how use them. The dialogue and Jase’s confident attitude are what help make this story so good. I enjoyed this story so much I never wanted it to end. My only complaint is I would have liked an epilogue with more information about Jase and Bree’s future. This is the first book the author has written and I look forward to reading more. If you are a fan of Kristen Ashley, you should read this story. Jase reminded me of one of Kristen Ashley's hot, protective, sexy, action men. Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book vIa Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
