About the Author

J. Marie has been writing since she first learned the alphabet, but it wasn’t until 25 years later that she finally decided to take the deep plunge into the depths of publishing. Her written work conveys the darker side of writing, bringing in to light what most may shy away from and she loves every second of it. Her inspiration comes in the form of a minefield on top of a snow covered mountain. One step and a new idea explodes in her head, and then before you know it, she has an avalanche of ideas rushing through her brain and it does not stop! When she's not writing until the late hours of the night, she's working as a legal assistant at a personal injury law firm in Michigan. She enjoys practicing and teaching martial arts in her spare time as well as tearing up the neighborhood riding around on her super fun Honda Grom motorcycle. If you'd like to connect with her more, check out her author page on Facebook where she posts teasers of her upcoming books every week!

This book is phenomenal for those who like dark erotic stories and can handle reading depraved and twisted writing because it definitely had that! However, it was so much more than that. This is the ultimate survival story. It's every woman's worse nightmare and the author truly delves into Jaden's story. It makes you question how any person can survive what she goes through especially when the point is made, out of all females, she should not have been taken. Jaden has been taught how to fight and how to keep alert. This added a breathtaking component that I don't see many other books. I loved seeing Jaden have that fight even when it made me cringe. It's definitely not a one-dimensional story. Each character has depth to it and Jay Marie makes sure to elicit every emotion possible. My favorite authors are the ones who focus not just on the two lead characters but put effort into world building and this author does not disappoint from other women taken to even the guards. Jay Marie specifically crafted each word and scene because she created a (sadly) realistic world that broke my heart and left me wanting to know more. I can't wait to read book 2. Highly recommend for those who love very dark reads.
