The black funnel of an approaching tornado makes all other troubles seem small. But when Indiana State Trooper Chance Hamlin "rescues" Allie Craine from a twister, his troubles are just beginning—Allie, a disaster photographer, rescues him when he drives into the storm's path. Chance doesn't like being rescued, he doesn't like photographers, and he definitely doesn't like being stuck with Allie when she wants to stay in calm, peaceful Indiana. Too bad his family, friends, and even the other members of Chance's volunteer fire department think she's great. Suspicious of Allie's motives, he decides to drive her away out of sheer boredom—but that's not so easy when someone begins causing fires and other catastrophes around the area. That someone might be Allie, who has plans of her own...

This is my first romantic comedy. I never had any desire to read anything in that genre. Actually, I normally can't stand romance but I've recently been attempting to broaden my horizons. Enter "Storm Chaser". Chance Hamlin, a state trooper from a small town called Hurricane in Indiana. He's not a big fan of people from California and he despises reporters with a flaming passion. So naturally he comes across Allison "Allie" Craine. She's a disaster photographer from California. She's also really hot. As you can guess, the tension, both sexual and otherwise becomes a theme in this book. Okay, so what's the big deal? The big deal is that, as the story goes on, these characters have more depth than a number of real life people I know. Through dialog and idiosyncrasies, everyone comes to life. Chances mother and his sister, Beth. His friend and coworker Fran. Luther Magee, one of Allie's father's cronies who is a walking disaster in his own right. You will laugh (I actually laughed out loud in the gym while reading this). You will cry. You will clench your fists at Chance's stubbornness. You will want to backhand Magee. The point is, these characters will reach out of the pages (or the screen on your eReader) and pull you right in. On top of it all, the disasters that occur give it some good action, which helped me since I am normally an action junkie. This is an extremely well written and assembled piece. The author obviously researched weather patterns and created some believable, graphic, and seat-grabbing disasters as well as capturing the intense emotions of two people who just can't seem to admit that they're head over heals for each other. Definitely grab this one. It's worth it!
Loved the local flavor! As a Noble County resident, all of the name dropping was a treat! Storyline keeps you reading.
Fast read, multi-layered plot, strong characterization, and plenty of action/mystery to keep you interested even if you're not a huge romance fan. It's a romance so there are some more adult parts, but nothing too racy. Teen +. Would give to my mother or grandmother without worrying they'd be offended; would give to a peer without worrying they'd be bored!
