Reason for Reading: My autistic son is quite creative but has a hard time at school when it comes to writing and getting his ideas down on paper so I thought this might be a fun way to get his creative juices flowing by storytelling out loud. This card deck is a huge winner with my son!! I brought out the game during our half-day homeschooling and we played a variation on one of the games presented in the accompanying booklet. He had so much fun; I was actually surprised it went so well; as with games we usually have a problem with following the rules at first but other than set up and taking turns creativity is the key here, not rules. Once we had finished, he asked me slyly, "Whose are these?" "Yours, if you want them." I casually answered. Well, he was delighted and we've been playing them everyday for a couple of weeks now. He wants to get an additional set to add to this one and he is eyeing the "Legends of the Sea" kit. The 28 glossy cards are approx. 5" x 3.5", illustrated with a gorgeous picture on one side and have a description and story starter questions on the reverse side. They come packaged in a sturdy box with a sleeve and an accompanying 24pg. booklet which explains the kit and describes several ways to use the cards and several games to play with them. The cards can be used by one or many people. They can be used for storytelling, writing, acting, or drawing. There are several themed decks available and they can be used separately or shuffled together. A good quality product, autism friendly and they would also be beneficial in the classroom. Highly recommended!
