Stranded With the Cyborg by Cara Bristol

Ten years ago Penelope Isabella Aaron had been a pain in Brock Mann's you-know-what. Much has changed in a decade: "PIA" as he code-named her, has grown up and is about to attend her first Alliance of Planets summit conference, and Brock has been transformed into a cyborg after a near-fatal attack. Now a secret agent with Cyber Operations, a covert paramilitary organization, Brock gets called in, not when the going gets tough, but when the going gets impossible. So when he's unexpectedly assigned to escort Penelope to the summit meeting, he balks at babysitting a prissy ambassador. But after a terrorist bombing, a crash landing on a hostile planet, and a growing attraction to his protectee, Operation: PIA may become his most impossible assignment yet.

Short, but complete and quite enjoyable. Brock had been on protection detail when Penelope's mother was president of Terra United. His assignment was the teenaged and rebellious Penelope whom he nicknamed "PIA" for "pain in the ass". Brock suffered mortal wounds on another assignment, but survived with cybermed help. He now considers himself less than human. His new assignment is to guard the Terran ambassador on a diplomatic trip because she's been targeted by a radical terrorist faction. To his horror the ambassador is Penelope and she is still a bit rebellious. They face assassination attempts, exploding spacecraft, kidnapping and growing feelings for each other.

Not terrible but seemed like maybe a first novel attempt. Characters very undeveloped and the storyline was rushed but the story idea has so much potential

This was pretty bad in that it was just so freakin unbelievable. The author, though quite able to turn a good phrase, needs to do a bit of research before coming up with main story lines. The whole acid thing...the author apparently does not know that acids (all of them) have a strong odor (make your eyes water strong) which completely negates the whole story set up as bullcrap. The insta love I can usually deal with but the lack of character development from this too short story and total lack of decent plot makes this story not worth a read.

Overall Rating: 4.25 Rockin’ ★★★★ Take a young woman finding her place in the universe and a former shunned soldier turned Cyborg and what do you get? Stranded with the Cyborg! The first book in the Cy-Ops Sci-fi series, by Cara Bristol. This entertaining story is fast-paced and full of action from the beginning. The universe created by the author draws you in and continues to hold your attention to the last page. This is Brock and Penelope’s story of forgiveness and love. Penelope grew up in politics, her mother served as President of the Alliance of Planets. She suffered her teenage years with a security detail. Brock was assigned to protect her until she lied about him. She knew it was wrong but wanted a reaction from him instead of the typical nod or short one word phrases. Since then she has excelled in her career and is now an ambassador at the first Alliance of Planets conference. When her mother confronts her to insist on a bodyguard, she takes off to the summit earlier than planned without her security detail. Brock is a Cyborg. After a mission gone bad, he was recruited by Carter to join the Cy-Ops and his body became enhanced through different medical procedures. When Carter requests that Brock handle Penelope’s security for the summit, old feelings resurface. When he sees her again, there are feelings he doesn’t understand. He also knows that he is no longer a man, but is now a machine. Brock believes that he doesn’t deserve love or happiness, because he’s not human. When the two once again connect, their chemistry sizzles and burns the pages as their story unfolds. There are several twists and turns you don’t expect. If you are looking for a new twist on science fiction romance try this book today!

A sexy cyborg on a mission? Sign me up! Brock Mann might be part machine now, but he's all male. When he's commissioned to protect a precocious interplanetary ambassador he's had run-ins with before, the mission quickly goes awry. This book was fun and has a sexy surprise you'll have to read to believe!
