Thanks to NetGalley and Portable Press for the digital download of Strange History by Bathroom Readers Institute! This incredible book kept me reading from beginning to end and I finished it in one sitting because of its entertainment value! Strange History is a fact driven world history of slang, fads, quotes that stand the test of time, boring parts of history, historical food facts, styles and trends by decades, almost assassinations, misconceptions, freaky facts, made-up languages, obsolete words, real life Frankensteins and a bunch of other historical fact categories. I want to use this book for a jigsaw lesson to teach what facts can be found in the 000's section of the DEWEY Decimal System. Great entertainment

“Strange History” is a fun history book filled with facts and stories that will have you either laughing, horrified, or thankful you don’t know what crazy stuff is going on right now behind-the-scenes. All of the stories are short and can be read quickly. It definitely makes history fun and accessible. In fact, I recommend it for teachers or parents to get interesting anecdotes they can throw into relevant lessons to keep students engaged. This review is based upon a complimentary copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I received a free electronic copy of this book from Netgalley and the Bathroom Readers Institute, in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for sharing your work with me. And I have to say, this book is a hoot. I have several people on my Christmas list who will truly enjoy it, and some of the data shared I appreciate knowing, myself. This book will certainly improve your mood!

This would make a great gift. I got a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review, which I am very happy to provide. What a fun book! It is filled with funny, sometimes gross, but always very interesting tidbits of history that you won't find in your average history book. I found myself laughing out loud many times and sharing some of the more peculiar ones with my husband by reading them out loud. Perfect if you don't have a lot of time at your hands, because most stories can be read in minutes. This would make a great gift.
