Stranger in Town by Brenda Novak

The car accident was Hannah Price's fault—a few seconds of inattention that changed Gabe Holbrook's life forever, destroying everything he'd been or ever wanted to be.

He was a man who'd had it all. Intelligent, handsome, talented, rich, he'd been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Now he's come home to Dundee, the small town where he was raised, but he's a stranger to the people who once knew him. Folks think he's bitter and withdrawn; he knows he's just focused on recovering. But thanks to Hannah Price, there are some things that can't be fixed.

Hannah has been struggling to recover from that fateful night, too. Unlike Gabe, she sustained only minor injuries. But she's not sure she'll ever be able to forgive herself for making a mistake with such far-reaching consequences. Especially when Gabe becomes her older son's football coach, and she begins to fall in love with the man she nearly destroyed…

It was refreshing to read a romance novel with a leading man who has a disability. All the characters are well developed making this a read I couldn't put down. Novak's writting style creates a wholesome and real-feeling characters. Loved it.

IF you like reading about handicapped characters, it was pretty good. As romance novels go, it does present the ex football star in a wheelchair as very handsome and talented. His handicap makes him depressed and the longtime old high school friend devises ways to get him out and about again when they fall for each other. He has a small son and an evil ex as well. Not very detailed love scenes for what "Superromance" used to mean in the Harlequin series, but the handicap and how he and others deal with it abounds.

I have loved all the books in this series. What i really love is how relatable and realistic novak's characters and plots are. However, this is about a former football star who skipped 2 years of school but was still a high school football hero. This is hard to believe because of the difference 2 years would make in his physical development in comparison with his peers, not to mention the age requirements to play at the varsity level. I wish novak would have left that part out of the story. My husband is a h.s. football coach and there have been some talented players in his program who were unable to play at the varsity level because they were too young to meet the age requirements. However, once i got past that part, i enjoyed the story. I will continue to read this series.

I couldn't put this book down. I loved the way Hannah and Gabe were brought together by a terriable accident and they over came it and fell in love even though some people tried to convince Hannah that he would never stay with her due to the accidet. This is the third book by Brenda I have read I'm hooked on this set of books and I read them over and over.
