The family health perspective is introduced as a relatively new model in the human service field. Social workers affiliated with Southwest Missouri State U. and East Michigan U. School of Social Work share their professional perspectives on helping families to achieve and maintain health. Viewing problems as unmet needs, they offer information on Federal programs and guidelines addressing such concerns as HIV/AIDS, truancy, substance abuse, adolescent suicide, juvenile sex offenders, and chronic illness in traditional and non-traditional family contexts.
