Strength is a great read and--if the sequel proves as good as the first--Ms. Butler will likely be added to my very short will-pre-order-from author list. Strength will make you laugh and it will make you cry. I love that the paranormal elements are original (no vampires or werewolves). I also enjoyed Butler's cast of characters and her fresh, vivid descriptions. I was quickly sucked into Rena and Wallace's world, and I didn't want to leave. Rena is a likeable heroine - not too meek and not too aggressive. And Wallace? O. M. G. He is a gentleman. A very hot gentleman. Although Strength can be enjoyed alone and its ending satisfies, it's only the beginning of the story. Good thing, because I want more. Bottom line? Strength is an excellent debut novel. A solid 5 stars.

Ugh this book starts out slow and boring, then picks up and becomes really good, then the end slows down and becomes terribly boring and tedious. I found myself skipping entire chapters just to get it over with. The plot is good and the sexual tension between them is great, but becomes a chore when nothing comes of it. The bad guys spill everything at the end, leaving nothing for the next book. Cole, Wallaces brother is cruel and kidnaps Ren, cuts her up, threatens to kill her, abuses her and she just blows it off becoming his friend. Rens room mate Gabby is a major self involved whore who puts getting laid over any concern for her friend, getting Ren drunk and leaving her behind with Jinx, who is a stranger to Ren, Gabbys current lover so Gabby can screw Jinxs room mate, leaving Ren out in the cold with no where to sleep so Gabby can get laid. The grandmother is almost murdered by her long lost sister and in the end they becomes pals. I dont understand why this has such high praise, it is a terrible book.

I enjoyed this book so much, that the moment I was done with it, I immediately went to Amazon and purchase the next book. Plot: This plot really grabbed me. You have this guy who is isolated and strange. Everyone thinks he is a freak when really more is going on than what we see. I adore how the plot moved with the reader, pushing me along every bread crumb. Every chapter intrigued me more and only a quarter way through, I was ready to zoom through the book! There are plenty of plot twist and a evil struggle for power, so it kept me pretty entertained. Love: I Love this LOVE!!! I like that this couple overcame a lot of trials. They went through social stigma, rumors and friends constantly on their case about their relationship. Yet, it blooms as at great pace starting with friendship to a love that I can bask in. Their day to day life is pretty normal except a few supernatural aspects going on... Supernatural: I like that this is a small but big part of their life. I want to say exactly what it is but think of it this way. It's like a human but just a bit stronger. I like the back round history of where the powers come from. Anywhoo, its great! I totally read through this story super fast. I love this story. I think it carries plenty of great elements without it being too much. Everything is balanced out well and of course has a great love interest that I could not get enough of it. An unexpected journey that I loved, Strength steps out from the pages, tantalizing the reader. The emotions are strong with supernatural elements that keep you at the edge of your seat. With the title living up to the story, do you have the strength to go on? Strength is a sharp start to an excellent series!

OK, first off, I have a total character crush on Wallace! Oh wow! This has never ever happened to me before! I have had admiration and enjoyed a male character before but Wallace...I want to be friends with this guy in real life! (Sorry, hubby!) He's probably one of the most dangerous guys you will ever meet except he's a total lover on the inside! He is this super strong sexy guy that can sense your emotions because he's an empath! So delicious! He's totally misunderstood by his peers because he suffers from an affliction and screams and bangs around in his room every night. This has earned him a nickname and a status to be leery of.  We can't forget Rena! The flippant way Butler writes her is funny at times. She's sometimes awkward and her and her roommate have some funny conversations, mostly about guys! To be honest, to me, Wallace outshines Rena because of my crush, LOL, though Rena has aspects to her to admire! She owns up to her mistakes, she helps when she can and really tries to help when people think she can't! There is a super awesome scene towards the end where she proves to be more than a handful when others have underestimated her! I was able to relate to her and the situations she finds herself in!  "Wilcox, is a widely practiced religion. Not the most exciting place to live." --Rena's views of Wilcox, Ohio Cole, Wallace's twin brother, is irritating and also very dangerous. I want to dislike him for  how he uses Rena but honestly, I feel there is so much more to Cole we just haven't learned yet. His reasons for doing most of what he does seems honorable though his actions o not show this, as you see when you read Strength. The twins don't get along because of opposing views on how to do things. They both love their grandmother dearly...she is the one who raised them for most of their lives due to a drunk driving accident. I loved her too! Strength has it all! Sex appeal, action, confrontation, real life situations mixed with some supernatural, a little betrayal! If I had to choose a con for Strength, and I am reaching here, LOL, I guess it would be that at one point I kinda figured that Rena was going to go after Wallace at one point in the book, but I didn't expect it to turn out the way it did! Like I said...if I had to choose one thing to criticize, that would be it. Butler weaves threads into the plot that you don't even realize until it hits the characters! As you read this book, you'll see there are several reason why this book is titled, Strength! It's written so well, I don't see how a reader would not be able to connect with this book!  I am so glad I was able to review Strength! You know how a lot of readers will read certain books more than once and even several times a year? Strength is a book I look forward to reading again! Even though I know what's going to happen next because I have read it before, it's got that much entertainment value, that this will not at all mar my second experience of it! This is a definite must read for all!

I really enjoyed the story line of Strength and felt that the author did a great job of creating this book with a unique plot. The book was put together fabulously and was really interesting. The plot and characters seemed to be surrounded in mystery that really built up anticipation for the truth. The book had a great flow and each scene transitioned smoothly into the next. I felt that some parts of the book were a little too dramatic and that they fit together oddly. Otherwise this was a great read. Rena was an inquisitive character and added uniqueness to the story. She wasn’t very dynamic and yet that could be a good thing as her morals never changed. She was very determined to find out the answers to the mysteries surrounding Wallace and her attitude made the book an enjoyable read. I didn’t like how she made excuses when Wallace gave her bruises but overall her character was easy to like. Wallace was a mysterious character and I liked his attitude throughout the book. Although the book was told from Rena’s POV I felt that I was still able to gain insight into his character and therefore his actions. This book was an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I will be keeping an eye out for Courage and hope to read other series by this author. ***I received an e-book for an honest review an opinion.***

This was one that I signed up for on a whim.  Boy am I glad I did.  Rena runs into Wallace by accident and kinda sets the story in motion. They have all heard the sounds from his room, but from his room, but no one know what goes on. But from the moment she runs into him, there seems to be a connection with him. Holly smokes… this is one of those books that seems to be hot with out a lot of physical contact going on. But it is one of those books that totally pulls you in and just makes you keep reading until the last page. I loved this one! What a great read and so much fun!

Strength was a fun combination of college romance with a paranormal twist. When Rena met the "madman" she certainly never planned to get involved in his life or his family's affairs. She also never planned to fall in love with him. When Wallace met Rena he kept her at arm's length, never wanting to touch or be touched. The question was why? As the title intimates Wallace's strength might be that of a superhero. An other worldly being mixed with a human being trying to fight against his special powers before they destroy him, Rena and his family. When his twin brother Cole enters the picture things get intense and Rena finds herself a pawn in a game even Wallace and Cole knew was being played. Strength is a well written, descriptive story about love and trust and self control along with a dash sexiness. My daughter and I read Strength together and it was interesting seeing the book through the eyes of a YA and how we garnered different things from each part. The end left us both wanting more of Wallace and Rena's story and wondering just how long we have to wait to find out. When two people are joined by the Mark of Nexus will their power spiral out of control or will they be able to tame the beast between them? I, for one, will watch for the next installment from Ms. Butler to find out!

You know those books you can’t put down once you start reading? The one you keep thinking about after you’ve finished? That’s how Strength is for me. Tiny, spunky, college girl Rena and tortured, mysterious, Mr.Tall-Dark-and-Handsome Wallace had me sucked in from the beginning. I love how upfront Rena is and her hilarious one liners. Wallace is a perfect gentleman, sweet, generous, and sexy as heck. One thing that did surprise me about the book was the hunky hero’s name. I don’t know about you, but when I think of someone named Wallace, I don’t think rippling abs. Thanks to Carrie Butler, that has changed. Wallace is now going on my ‘sexy name’ list! I love how Rena slowly falls for Wallace and doesn’t just cling to him from the beginning and how Wallace tries to keep his distance, but still gives in like a normal red-blooded male. Too often love stories in the YA/NA category consist of the girl falling all over the guy and the guy being too stuck up for the girl. That’s so not the case here. Overall Reaction: Loooooved it! Carrie Butler definitely knows how to write a story and I’m already anxious for the next book. (Which, according to her blog, she’s working on now! *squeal*) This is definitely one to buy for the bookshelf. Have you seen the cover? Yum!

First thoughts after..... I want more Wallace! I have a new book boyfriend! Shhhhh.....don't tell the others....... How distracted did I get? Strength is a fun addictive read. If I had the next book in my hands I'd currently be reading the story! Rena's tiny but spunky and watch out for that hook! She's trained in self defense and with a fiery temper. Wallace a quiet type hmmmm.....let's just say Wallace is awesome and you need to read all about him! I wasn't wanting to work last night so I could read and my co-worker/friend wants to borrow my copy....may just have to gift her a copy...I don't want to give up mine...(yeah it was that good). Strength's story has comedy, romance, action all in one book you shouldn't miss!

First can I just say that this series is going to take the NA New Adult genre by STORM! This story had the elements I love about a supernatural world. The flow of the story was so incredible that I could not put the book down once I started reading it. I first came across the book doing the cover reveal and then it was released on my son's birthday. I was so excited to be a part of this tour because the book cover SCREAMS red me and the blurb had me hooked on he screams at night. Rena is your average college girl. She is loving school and her classes and friends. Then one day she is not paying attention and runs right into the schools mysterious bad boy Wallace AKA Wall. He is all muscles and all sorts of yummies to the tummie! At first Rena is like OMG because she has heard all the rumors surrounding Wall but as she gets to know him she is intrigued by him because he is nothing like what they say he is. He is kind and sweet and protective of Rena. She can't understand why he spends his time alone because he is everything she wants in a man and more. But Wall is the way he is for a reason and Rena will soon find out.  Wall just wants to be left alone to go to school and try and have a normal life. But you can't have a normal life when you have the gifts or curse how ever you look at it that Wall does. SO when he and Rena start to get close he knows it is a bad idea but he can't seem to pull away. Then his family comes meddling and Wall has no choice but to save and protect Rena from them. A storm is brewing within Wall's family and a battle is eminent and Rena is caught in the middle of it. What will Wall do to save Rena and will Rena sacrifice to be with Wall? This is a must read book! If you love supernatural and swoon then this is the book to read! I need book two like ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!

an old saying brought back within the confines of this book. Carrie did a great job in getting me on the side of Rena, although for someone who is newly friends with someone I think it odd to interfer with family affairs. I LOVED the grandmother's attitude and how she had such great control over her grandson. Fabulous. I enjoyed the subtle cliffhanger and will be looking for book two to see how their relationship develops.

Where do I begin?! I honestly flew through this book and simply could not put it down! The plot is gripping as the author creates relatable surroundings and characters you can't help but fall in love with. I felt like I was in the story with Rena, Gabby, Aiden and Wallace during all of the exciting and regular college days. It reminded me of the dorm life which I still, to this day, think about and miss at times. Rena is the protagonist and is extremely likable from the moment we meet her. I think she reflects well off of the other characters in the story; especially Wallace (and even Cole later on in the novel). Wallace is super dreamy and I felt like his character had a mysteriously addictive persona. He was strong, and at times, too strong! I would have loved to have been Rena at certain instances in this book! When Wallace's brother, Cole, was introduced, I didn't like him; at all! However, as the plot progressed, I learned about how much he truly loved his grandmother and he was only torturing both Wallace and Rena because he needed their help. AND, I didn't see any of this coming! I thought the kidnapping of Rena would have presented a completely different scenario. The romance between Wallace and Rena is both warm and exhausting at times! I was on a rollercoaster between the two of them which is something readers need when trying to get close to the realness of a book's characters and their love. And my, was their first kiss intense!! My favorite lines during this kiss were, "Wet and heated, fighting for dominance. I couldn't breathe. He tasted of wicked innocence--darkness and light. I didn't want to break for air. Ever." I also loved the ending and these three lines, "Being with him wasn't the sacrifice he'd claimed it to be; it was a blessing that'd came in disguise. It was hard to believe that, at one point, I'd been afraid of him. Now I would only fear what I'd be without him." Carrie Butler's writing shines in this story. It is that "really good writing" which keeps the reader highly engaged and interested throughout the entire duration of the book. I look forward to reading her other works!
