About the Author

Alison Kent was a born reader, but it wasn't until the age of thirty that she decided she wanted to be a writer when she grew up. Five years and a mental library of industry knowledge later, she had the most basic grasp of "how-to" and her first book in print.

Three years after that, she found a permanent home at Harlequin, accepting an invitation issued by the senior editor of the Temptation series, live on the "Isn't It Romantic?" episode of CBS 48 Hours.

That book, Call Me, was a Romantic Times finalist for Best First Series Book in 1996.

With her first three Temptations in print, she took a break from writing romance novels and spent a few months living one, finding her own hero and practicing every technique she'd learned from a lifetime of reading the best "how-to" manuals around! She now writes for both the Harlequin Blaze and Kensington Brava lines, and is a partner in Access Romance and DreamForge Media.

And the rest, as they say, is history. With the encouragement of her new master, er, husband, Alison is now back at work writing the stories she loves to read -- the fantasies that show readers the way love was meant to be. Alison lives in a Houston, Texas, suburb with her hero, four vagabond kids and a dog named Smith.

And she actually manages to write in the midst of all that madness.

Control is the one thing that has made her successful in business and life. How can Melanie Craine prevent herself from being taken in by a cocky, bad boy attitude and a body to make a woman weep? Oh, and when he looks at her? What thoughts come to her mind then? She absolutely hates it. When Jacob Faulkner is assigned to film a documentary based on the successful gIRL gEAR business, he leaves Melanie a gift - something he made for her back at her friend's wedding, where they first met. Jacob was the videographer there. For reasons Jacob can't explain, Melanie affects him like no other woman. It is bad enough that Jacob has been under Melanie's skin since they first met. But then, Melanie fumes after investigating his gift, and devises the perfect scheme. She sets up her own surprise for Jacob, a striptease video. Melanie loves to have the upper hand. However, when she finds out that Jacob will be at her friend's barbeque, she gets quite nervous. What will Jacob think of her now? Melanie is a strong career woman. Business always comes first, no matter what. Will she continue to put gIRL gEAR first, despite the strong feelings that are quickly developing for Jacob? Will she ever use her heart and allow it to overrule her head - just for once? Jacob is determined he will not repeat the example his parents set. Two people married to their jobs and to each other, but two people who should never have had children. Why is it that Jacob's career is on such a fast track that he cannot see that it is time to open up his heart? While enjoying this passionate relationship with Jacob and Melanie, there is a secondary romance with Jacob's sister, Renata in STRIPTEASE. Renata met Aiden at a barbeque and they hit it off quite well. STRIPTEASE is about two people willing to share their bodies, but reluctant to share their souls. For a while it is also about one-upmanship. Who will give in first? Who will recognize that you can have a career and love? It is refreshing to see other women who have found love in STRIPTEASE - Sydney, Chloe and Macy. Their stories are in the other gIRL gEAR books. We also get to revisit Kinsey and Poe, who have their own gIRL gEAR stories coming up. Watching these women and seeing how their lives changed has a strong affect on Melanie, and makes her reconsider her choices. This makes STRIPTEASE very enjoyable and easy to read, because I couldn't help but root for Melanie. I wanted her to see past her need to be ambitious. Ms. Kent has done another fantastic job with this book! I enjoyed STRIPTEASE as much as I did ALL TIED UP, NO STRINGS ATTACHED and BOUND TO HAPPEN. I cannot wait to read Kinsey's story in WICKED GAMES (October, 03), and Poe's in INDISCREET (January, 04). If you want to continue on in this wonderfully touching series, do not miss picking up a copy of STRIPTEASE. Just as Jacob got more than be bargained for, so will the reader of this fantastic book.
