The review by Susan Parker refers to the Second Edition of the book and has little relevance to the Third Edition, which is a result from feedback by users all over the country. The Third editon is greatly expanded and includes many innovative activities for use by substitute teachers to interest students in their care. Highly recommended.
This book reads like it was written in a senior seminar. Only one specific suggestion for discipline was to send a child out of a class to interrupt another class. Most of the book deals with how to land a job. Any activities are not especially hard to come up with on one's own. For one who has experience raising children, I was looking for fresh insight into classroom management. My school discipline program provides more for me than this book.
