About the Author

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released multiple books, many of which have appeared on the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active daughter, as well as full-time servant to her adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or even better, both.

Sawyer also writes general and women’s fiction under the pen name S. Bennett and sweet romance under the name Juliette Poe.

## I don't understand these amazing reviews. SPOILER ALERTS BELOW******* There were so many things wrong with this book. First and foremost the male lead....ugh. This guy was no hero. He was insufferable. He was an arrogant douchebag. A complete assh*le. He wanted to hurt the heroine. To break her. Yes, he had a tragedy in his past. Most do. He treats the heroine like sh*t and of course she just takes it. Over and over. The reviews kept mentioning how strong she was. Say what? Are we even reading the same book? Sure, he is slightly less of a jerk for a short period of time while they are having sex constantly. But, once again he proves what a giant basta*d he is when he leaves the heroine without a word of goodbye, drives to the airport and moves to another country. She waits for him to return, calls him for weeks and nothing. What bothers me the most is that the author made the heroine go after HIM. He never would've seen her again if she hadn't crawled back to him. And let me tell you, after the sh*t he said and again wanting to hurt her physically, HE should've been the one crawling. I can't even fathom that any woman would take this guy back after 12 weeks of no contact. But doormat Savannah does indeed. This is one of those books where I wish the guy didn't get the girl. That would have been a better ending. Don't bother!

While I loved this book, I felt it was a bit out of place character wise from the group of friends developed in the first two books because Savannah is a fringe character. This may be "Gavin's" story, but it is truly Savannah's story and WOW! Raw and emotional, the story just keeps getting better! Waiting patiently for Casey's story and Wyatt's story!

This time at Last Call we get Gavin’s story. After suffering a horrible loss, Gavin moves to the Outer Banks to finish is latest novel. When Savannah arrives at Gavin’s to interview for a housekeeping position, she doesn’t expect Gavin to answer the door hungover and mostly naked. Gavin never expected to become enamored with her. Their nicknames for each other also reflect their relationship perfectly- sweet and filthy. I love books with some type of turmoil and conflict. Just when I resigned myself to the fact that SUGAR may not have that…it poked it’s head out.

Upon finishing, my initial reaction: This was beautiful, seriously. Full review to come. My Thoughts (full review): I'm gonna be straight up honest here: at first, I wasn't sure if this was going to be a book for me. Something just wasn't clicking for me... but that moment passed quickly and soon I was invested in the story and in Gavin and Savannah in a way I didn't imagine possible. There was something ineffable about the two of them together. It had beauty in imperfection. Something blooms between Gavin and Savannah that didn't appear likely. Maybe it's temporary, maybe it's more, but holy crap, it's something special. When an unexpected situation occurs, their reactions could be the end of them if they let it. Gavin can't let go of the past, and seeing a possible repeat nearly sends him over the edge. But he can't deny what he's feeling, and neither can Savannah. Sugar On The Edge made me crave more. The development of their relationship was adorable and sexy at the same time. I nearly started crying at the end at the beautiful moment Gavin and Savannah shared. This is the third book in the Late Call series, and it definitely made me want to get my hands on the first two by Sawyer Bennett, and possibly others too! My Rating: Exceptional

It has been awhile since I read a sawyer Bennett book and I could kick myself for the delay. I jumped at the chance to read this even though it is book three of a series. It can be read as a stand alone and I wasn't lost at all but I sill think I would have loved it even more having the back story and emotions of everyone. Here we have bitter jaded drunk Gavin Cooke who happens to be British and a famous author. Suffering from a terrible loss Gavin drowns his sorrows in all kinds of addictions and sadistic tendencies. He moves to North Carolina to escape his life so he can finish writing his next book. Once there, he meets Savannah a meek quiet shy girl who could be instantly broken but what he didn't expect was the opposite from this enigma of a girl. Savannah is so different then he thought that she begins to intrigue Gavin out of his dark place. "You're wrong, Gavin. When you just exist, you have no emotion. No passion. But when you live ... you seize opportunity, you drink a joyful life, and you're motivated. The man I know ... the man I've let into my heart, he's a man that lives." As Gavin gives into the light he starts to heal while Savannah starts to blossom to her full potential. From the other Sawyer books I have read this is a jump into her naughtier side ;), which I quite liked by the way. All things go smoothly until Gavin's past is brought to the surface and the darkness reappears. It takes a lot for Gavin to get his light and heart again but so worth the fight. I really did like this story. I liked the blossoming of both Savannah and Gavin. There story was full of sweet and filthy the perfect pairing.

Bennett has done a great job in getting you hooked from the very start of this stellar novel. Bennett captures your attention and has you wanting more as the characters are so well thought out and captivating that you cannot put down this book. I absolutely fell in love with Savannah Shepherd as she looks and seems like the good girl next door, but behind closed doors she has a different persona … and the one filthy boy to bring that out in her is Gavin Cooke. A novelist with a bad attitude and a sharp tongue he is everything that she shouldn’t want … but needs. Their courtship will have you in fits of giggles and will have you gasping for air as one minute your laughing and the next minute your deeply aroused as Bennett has a knack for switching gears. This highly erotic tale of love and loss will have you wanting more! Great read!

Sugar on the Edge is the third book in Sawyer Bennett's Last Call Series, and is a companion novel that can be read as a standalone.  Gavin Cooke is the male main character in the book and is new to the series, while we met Savannah, the female main character in the previous novels, which I loved by the way.  In On the Rocks and Make it a Double we met the twins, Hot Hunter and Broody Brody, which both will take your breath away.  In Sugar on the Edge, we get up close and personal with Gavin Cooke, who is a much darker character.  He's a British author who is wealthy, arrogant, and rude, but also extremely hot and oozes with the darker side of sexy.  He has come to the Outer Banks to get away from all his "debauchery," so that he can finish his current novel and get it to the publisher.  While very intimidating, Gavin also has a painful history that has shaped him into the man he is.  Savannah Shepard is a really sweet person who is trying to make ends meet, which is how she ends up working for Gavin Cooke.  He finds her mysterious and intriguing, and she soon learns that he brings out a side in her that she didn't know she even harbored.  Gavin and Savannah have an intense chemistry and things are very hot, while somewhat darker on the sexual side of the novel, which is part of Gavin's nature.  As the relationship progresses, Gavin finds that he just can't get enough of this woman who is beautiful, sweet, and a little sassy, and nothing at all like the type of woman he usually goes for, while Savannah is learning to live on the wild side.  We also get to see the characters from the previous books, which I really enjoyed.  Things seem to be going great when something happens that causes past fears to rise up, threatening to destroy it all, but will Gavin come to his senses, and will it be too little too late for any hope of making things right.  I really loved Sugar on the Edge and Sawyer Bennett has delivered yet another captivating romance, while taking her readers on a ride that is a little on the dark side and a whole lot of sexy.  The romance is great, the story is wonderfully written, and the characters are awesome.  If you love contemporary romance, then you will definitely want to check this out.

4.25 stars:  SUGAR ON THE EDGE is the third instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s adult, contemporary Last Call erotic romance series. This is best selling British author Gavin Cooke and photographer Savannah Shepherd’s storyline. We were first introduced to Savannah in book two-MAKE IT A DOUBLE (Brody and Alyssa’s story) –as a volunteer at Alyssa’s no-kill animal shelter. Gavin has come to America to finish up his manuscript. He is a man who uses women and alcohol to forget about a tragedy that has all but destroyed his life. When Savannah enters his less than orderly world as his house cleaner, Gavin is quickly taken aback when the feisty female suddenly becomes the muse for the heroine in his latest novel. Falling in love was never on Gavin’s agenda. But a surprise twist in their relationship finds Gavin on the run-something most people would not find easy to forgive. The profound heartbreak and pain that he causes Savannah touches everyone in her life. The relationship between Gavin and Savannah begins as employer to employee but soon turns into something more. From housekeeper to personal assistant, Savannah begins to take charge of Gavin’s world both in and out of the bedroom. Gavin isn’t looking for anything permanent or serious but soon finds himself falling in love. As the storyline builds, so too does their relationship including a sensual and erotic sexual life. The secondary characters include Brody and Alyssa as well as Hunter and Gabby from ON THE ROCKS. The world building brings together the gang from Last Call-their family, friendships, lovers and camaraderie bring a sense of familiarity and cohesion to the series. Sawyer Bennett’s LAST CALL series takes the reader into a provocative and imaginative world. Her characters endure heartbreak, loss, intense emotional pain and a profound love that will last a lifetime. An amazing series from a talented author.

5+ Bent but not broken stars... I'm a huge Sawyer Bennett fan, she pushes my buttons with every page. She obviously shares my love for broken alpha filthy-mouthed man-whores that need someone to change their outlook and uncover a heart that has been buried in pain. Gavin is the perfect specimen for Savannah's pornagraphic fantasies (mine too!). She finds him "utterly freakin' gorgeous" and "very naughty and thrillingly bad". Because he says the "loveliest of dirty things" she has nicknamed him Filthy. The banter between these two will have you laughing out loud and melting into a puddle. Savannah having to make the decision to suffer his condescending cranky mouth or sacrifice the sexy accent is a problem I'd like to have. Their use of "Are your brains addled, love?" had me giggle snorting. I loved every second of this brilliant masterpiece and I look forward to more in the Last Call Series.

Gavin is a popular, British writer who has come to the Outer Banks to try and dig himself out from the bottom of a bottle and finish writing his next book. The former is is proving to be very difficult. He spends a few hours a day writing and the rest of his time in a Scotch induced oblivion. In between, he is a giant jerk to anyone he comes in contact with. Especially his new housekeeper, Savannah. Savannah is barely able to stand up during the day. The 3 jobs she has to leave little time for sleep or food, but she refuses help from anyone. Her new boss might be a ginormous jerk, but he pays well and is easy on the eyes. Gavin is determined to prove that she is the timid girl he thinks she is, so he is not expecting the fire that ignites within her when he pushes. So yes, Gavin is the king of jerks when this story starts off and it is clear that there is a lot of pain that is causing his behavior. I suppose that's why I liked him so much. The hot broken man who needs the right girl to help him put the pieces back together. The dirty mouth certainly helps too. And that British accent? Uh yeah, SMOKIN HOT. From the get go Gavin has zero filter on his mouth and it is both amusing and arousing. I have read and loved everything that Sawyer Bennett has written and this was no different. Gavin is now tied with Brody as my #1 Last Call man. He is one of her darker heroes and watching him slowly open his eyes and let Savannah in was lovely. And with that mouth that I can't seem to stop talking about, you just know the lovin' is going to be hot and dirty and really just perfect. It takes him a little while to get his act together but I enjoyed every second of that journey. Savannah was a sweet and fun heroine with a huge stubborn streak that made me want to smack her a few times. Her sweetness was the perfect anecdote for Gavin's bitterness. And I swear every time he called her his pet name, I melted into puddle. Sugar on the Edge was another excellent read from Sawyer Bennett as always, I can't wait to read what she has up next.
