I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is even better than the first Sugar Georgia book. The author really makes me get involved with the characters. I even cried at one point in the book. The only thing that made me go "huh?" about the book was that the hospital board declared a meeting to say one of the characters wasn't fit for a job supervising teenagers when all of the blame for an incident should have sat with a different adult and the kids involved. However, I have never lived in that small of a town and don't understand small town politics. I guess I can see a point that Glory should have been more careful with who watched her use a security code. The sexual tension was just enough to keep the reader interested. The books contains a sneak preview of the next Sugar Georgia book involving another McGraw brother and I am eagerly waiting its publication.

Marina Adair is a new author to me and what prompted me to pick up the book was the sexy single dad hero. I love romance books where a child/or children are factors in the couple getting together. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this author but what I discovered was a delightfully humorous and heartfelt read. Set in small-town Georgia where tradition reigns and a person’s mistakes are never forgotten, Glory is trying to overcome her past and realize her dream of becoming a nurse. When she finds out her grandmother and her grandmother’s friends have stolen a prized tractor, Glory tries to return it before they’re caught and ends up arrested for assaulting a police officer…with a cow pie.  As if her day couldn’t get any worse, Cal—her best friend’s older brother and her high school crush—is sent to bail her out of jail. What begins as an innocent ride home from the police station turns into a whirlwind flirtation that is both funny and explosive. I absolutely LOVED this book. Cal and Glory were dynamite together. Their relationship developed well past the sexual attraction and I enjoyed watching them slowly and irrevocably fall in love. I thought Glory and Cal’s daughter Payton had a great relationship that wasn’t forced, yet it was believable. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters and look forward to their stories as well.  What I really liked most about the book was that there was no age limit on the romance in the story. We experience Cal and Glory’s get-together as well as watching a courtship of sorts between Payton and a young male suitor. We are also treated to a much older couple getting together as the man finally finds his courage to declare his love for the woman he’s been pining over for twenty years. This was an all-encompassing romance and I loved every minute of it. My only criticism would be for the cover of the book. There is no dog mentioned in the story but there is a pet armadillo named Road Kill. But the cover would look less appetizing if an armadillo was on the cover so I can see why the puppy was substituted :)  SUGAR ON TOP is a wonderful example of contemporary romance. It has all the aspects of a true love story, and then some. I highly recommend this book for anyone who believes in a love so powerful; it can obliterate past transgressions and prove that everyone deserves to be loved. ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

4.5 Stars  Reviewed by Angela and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Sugar On Top was everything sweet with a bit of spice. It was funny, heartwarming, and I couldn’t help but shed a tear at the end of the book. The story takes off with an exciting altercation with Glory Mann and the deputy. Caught red handed and accused of theft, she is sentenced to community service. She was appointed the chairman of the Miss Peach Pageant in Sugar, Georgia to plan for this year’s event. She was in the worst predicament. She hated the town of Sugar. She hated pageants, and she hated that she had to work with Cal, his best friends big brother. The guy she’s always had an eye for. Cal is the oldest of the McGraw brothers. A divorcee with a teenage daughter who takes pride in his family. He strives to be the protector and the savior. That’s why when his brother asked him to bail Glory out of jail, he could not resist. Perhaps it was fate or a spur of the moment decision but that act of kindness pushed him to take a chance of falling in love again. Glory was amazing at winning everyone’s heart. I love that she was the bigger person to think clear without pride and resentment. She was kind despite the town’s treatment of her before. The good part is she was rewarded with their trust and respect making her fully part of the community. They are very lucky to have her. Cal, on the other hand, is due for his HEA but because of his situation, he is reluctant to accept any happiness. Not that he’s not happy, just that everyone else takes precedence before taking anything for himself. I suppose I can’t blame him. Juggling work, a teenage daughter and starting a love life is no easy task. At one point, I didn’t think he deserved to be with Glory because he was too caught up with his responsibilities to see what is in front of him. Taking a leap for that second chance is not always easy but I assure you, it will be a happy ending. There is a teaser in the back of this book that showcases another McGraw brother, Jace. Sometimes, these teasers are such a pain because they tease you into reading a good story but cuts off leaving you hungry for more. So not fair. I’m predicting Jace will stir things up when he comes back to Sugar. I believe that will be out in the fall. Sugar on Top was a fun read. I can safely say that Marina Adair is one of the authors I would highly recommend for small-town romance novels. She never fails in delivering a heart warming read.

I love this series and enjoyed this second installment. You won't miss much if you don't read the first book in the series, but it is good also. (Sugar's Twice as Sweet) Girl from the wrong side of the tracks involved in high school scandal is treated poorly by the small town where she stays to help her grandmother. Single father who lost his parents, raised his brothers and championed her when she was being mistreated years ago. The stuff HEA's are made of--oh, and some serious sizzle!

Sugar On Top is the second book in author Marina Adair’s Sugar, Georgia series, and after falling in love with the series I was so excited to read this newest installment. Well, Marina has done it again. This book was just fantastic. Poor Glory. Being stuck in a small town after having made a mistake when she was younger was proving to be hell. She would never be able to live it down and would always be reminded of that one slip up. But she was always willing to hold her head high and keep on moving forward. She was close to realizing her dream becoming a nurse and was beyond excited to start this new chapter. Of course just when she thinks all is well, she ends up in a bit of trouble and once again having to fight to get back to a good place. Only this time she had some help on her side and in her corner…Cal. Deliciously handsome, loyal, steadfast and strong, Cal. He was also single dad and off-limits, Cal. But if there’s one thing Cal has excelled at his whole life os taking care of people and situations. He was doing a favor for his brother by rescuing Glory from this newest pickle she was in but almost immediately he realizes she could use more. More help. More support. From just one person, she could use more. She had never had that from the people in this town and it was about time he changed that. She was beautiful, smart, and one hell of a strong woman. She deserved more and he wanted to give that to her. Small town talk, family, school, work, emotional walls a mile high. With so many complications in their way it had seemed Glory and Cal wouldn’t have their chance to explore the attraction between them. The attraction that had been going strong for too many years to count. Until fate steps in and works her magic… This book. This series. This author. I have so much love for all! I was crying within the first ten pages of this book. Glory tugged at all of my heartstrings and I wanted nothing more than for her to prove all these busy body small town gossips wrong and to succeed in realizing her dreams with her career and her love life. I was cheering for her every step of the way. She’s one tough cookie and really deserved her happy ending. Which brings me to Cal…oh, Cal. He is the whole package. He’s a great dad, brother, and grandson. Loyal and loving with a huge heart all wrapped up in one sexy and buff package. The slow build between them was just delicious. Because of her past she’s not willing to just dive in. Because of his past, he isn’t either. But don’t worry…Cal and Glory are well aware of what’s happening between the and aren’t wiling to throw it away. Of course, the entire cast of characters in this series is just as fantastic and play a huge part in every book. There are quirky grandmothers, interesting pets, and more than a few chuckle worthy situations.  I love that so much. It adds so much to a story and I always love how Ms. Adair combines it all into one entertaining package. Ok, now that I’ve taken up way too much of your time (I can’t help it! I love this book so much!) let me just say that if you love to root for the underdog and enjoy a wonderful romance, this is a book for you! Thank you, Ms. Adair, for once again giving us a wonderful and heartwarming story!

Received an ARC copy in exchange for a honest review. I absolutely loved this story, it is a heartwarming story brimming with southern charm! After reading the first chapter of this book I knew I was in for a real treat. I loved all the southern nuances, and felt as though the author did a amazing job at transporting readers to the little southern town of Sugar, Georgia. Cal and Glory's chemistry was undeniable from the start and I truly enjoyed watching their story unfold. The storyline was very well written, and loaded with some very likeable characters. The story had just the right amounts of everything a good romance story should have; plenty of sizzle, sass, blushworthy sex scenes and moments that will have you laughing out loud! If you have not read a book by Marina Adair you are totally missing out! Highly recommend this series!

Marina Adair is a master at creating characters that you can't help but fall in love with. In Sugar On Top, Glory has lived her life guarding herself closely, doing everything she can for her Grandma and working hard to achieve her dreams of becoming a nurse. Cal has spent his entire adult life taking care of his family, his brothers, his Grandmother and his teenaged daughter, while fencing off his heart so he can't be hurt again. The chemistry between Cal and Glory is so palpable in Sugar on Top that you can’t help but root for them. They have both been hurt in the past and are afraid of being hurt again, and the reader can feel how right they are for each other. I loved reading their journey, and can't to see what will happen next in the colorful little town of Sugar, Georgia.

Marina Adair always manages to write stories that allow the reader to put themselves in the characters shoes. The circumstances in Sugar on Top could happen to anyone. Glory keeps getting the short end of the stick despite trying to do the right thing. Cal is also trying to find his way after a contentious divorce while raising his teen daughter. This book was a feel good read. It reminds that even though life may get you down, don't stay down. Keep on moving and blessings can happen when you least expect them to. Sugar on Top by Marina Adair is a must read. Was given this book for an honest review.
