I could not put this book down, awesome story. It grabbed you from page 1 to the last page. I loved it, hated what happened to Ashley, well written, getting ready to read another book by Linda Barrett. About 180 pages & it was free so read it & enjoy it as much I did. GJRA

Great book. I wish more authors would read this to see how tastefully this author describes a love scene! And the couple was not hopping into bed after the first meeting! Good story line. Will definitely read more by this author.

Child rape and the trama afterwards is a difficult subject. I normally do not like reading books with this subject , however the author did an excellent job writing about all the aspects of the horrible rape. I appreciated even more that all of the events and emotions were clearly written, but more as factual than for gory and wrote about so many different ways to help the victim and her family, writing from both the child's and the adults view points.

This is not a cliffhanger. Linda Barrett handled a sensitive story of child rape and the aftermath with honesty and compassion. Rick was the single police officer who lived next door. He understood too well the sacrifices that spouses had to make when they married police officers. He never planned on another relationship unless he left his career behind. Kristin is a widow. Her husband's death wasn't the only tragedy she faced. Her daughter had been raped and, since her attack, did not speak out loud. The demon who raped her daughter was still out there because, although the police had DNA information, they needed information from Ashley to try to identify the criminal. The story was compassionate but it did deal with PTSD and the horrors that haunted the daughter and her mother.... The story is well written.

As soon as child rape was mentioned , I thought , I'm done with this book, but done with such compassion and very informative . I couldn't put it down. Great read

Honestly I loved this book. It held my attention from the very beginning. The plot was good and I felt it was followed through wonderfully! I gave this book five stars even though there are a few grammatical errors (wrong word or wrong letter, that sort of thing). However, it is definitely worth the read, so pick it up and do just that. If you like romance with a little suspense, you will not be disappointed!

Not a fan of the mother’s personality, and she was one of the main characters, or the anti-cop sentiment that ran throughout 90% of the book.

Nice romance with a great story. I have niw read three if Linda's books. I will read more. It's nice to read a story that isn't full if sex. This is perfect.

Really great reading. Enjoyed the story, especially since there was an animal in it. Therapy dogs are a joy to work with and a wonderful experience for people who are challenged in many ways. They have often been the angels and miracles needed in many lives.

Being the mom of a preteen is tough, but especially if your child is recovering from a traumatic experience. And romantic relationships can be difficult too when both adults are dealing with tough situations. This story is set in a perfect little lake town. There's drama and romance, but it's not a light read considering some of the topics it covers. The romance does include some sex, but I wouldn't consider the book "smutty" by a long shot. I don't usually give 5 stars, but this book deserves it! The author did a great job.

Being a single parent is already hard and add to that her child's trauma, Kris does the best she can. Rick and Quincy are in the right place at the right time. Good story, strong characters and a sensitive topic - I highly recommend!
